These will not work on stock Nissan 17" x 7" wide wheels, so please don't ask. 7.5" wide wheels and wider only.

They are not safe, and don't make me bring y2kse into this.

Keep going and I'll have to lock it.

No manufacturer recommends mounting 235 wide tires on 7" wide wheels. Do so at your own risk. It is a safety hazard.

They are not recommended due to a wide safety margin, but its up to the buyer. Alot of people have them on this forum and the Acura cl forum since we use the same size. I am aware of no one having issues.

It wont' be a problem

A lot of people have it.

if you can put 225 on 7" rims, then sure you can put 235s as well.

The difference is only 1 cm.

Many people have put 225s on stock 16 x 6.5 SE rims, including myself. If you can put 225 on on 6.5", then 235 on 7" won't be a problem.

The tire manafacturers don't recommend doing it because they want to maintain a very big safety margin.

It's like saying, "driving above the posted speed limit is very dangerious and therefore not recommended."

I wouldn't put 245s on 7" rims though. The maximum I would go is 235.

I had considered these a short time ago but bear in mind they are closeouts because they are discontinued,,,so you have to buy enough for your set and perhaps a spare or two for future use.

Um, no...the difference is ONE (1) centimeter...

10 mm = 1 cm
100 cm = 1 m
1 inch = 2.54 cm
about 30cms = 1 ft

tire sizes are in mm --> so, a 235 is 235mm, which equals 23.5 cm

hope this helps!

Are these tires any good??? Are they comparable to other top rated tires that are out there?

Thanks

Go look on their page under ultra high performance tires...they have stats on all of them. They don't look super good, no.

Very Good in dry

I've owned the Bridgstone RE 71's and RE730 gen 1 but I'm just not interested in paying alot for tire right now.. Check out this comparison chart which was down by their tire test and owners response to a survey.

It depends on what your looking for. If you want a tire that grips really well in the dry, this is one of the best if not the best when it come to ultra high performance tires. It's not the greatest in the rain nor does it last very long {Tread Rating=160} so maybe 20k with a perfect street alignment and rotation every 5k. It also isn't going to be the quietest tire either, but if you have a loud exhaust you most likely won't notice. As far as price vs performance you can't beat the deal.

PS these tires are horrible in the snow as are all summer tires.

woah
this is the time to buy some 17's

that's a hell of a deal for the $$$... someone sell me some cheap good looking 17s

thanks Russ

and I would put them on 7" wide rims, I know people running 235s and not having problems.. Nissan also does not reccomend you lower your car or replace your stock intake or exhaust with aftermarket parts.. but it doesn't stop people from modding, does it..

Tirerack AVS-I is recent stock

How old is Tireracks' inventory on some of these? Have these been on their shelves for 2+ years? Could they have lost some of their grippy properties because of?

Don't get me wrong. I run 225/55's now for auto-x and they're great. They are soft but that's the whole point of buying em. :
---------------------------------------------

7/5 update - 2 other board posts just confirmed the AVS-I product is good & soft. Sorry for ever doubting TR!

Why didn't you get the 225/50/16? That's what I run. Are you going to any Cendivs or pro events this year? I have to goto a wedding so I'm not going to compete this weekend. I might stop up and say hi to some of my friends on sunday.

I will goto the Cendiv and Pro event at Peru in Aug 10-11 and Aug 17-18.

Thanks for the help, Bill. It's clear that some of the dimmer bulbs in our chandelier are never going to get to the point of understanding the relationship between aspect ratios and acceptable rim width ranges. For them, ignorance will remain bliss . . . until a tire fails, that is.

Once again, children, if you want to run out-of-spec tires on your rims, that's your business.

Next set will be 50 or 45 series. I was given advice that 55 was best for our car. Actually 55 was good for learning since they slowed my abrubt inputs - but 60lbs hot! Geez.

I think I might try the Peru Pro. Never done one yet so need to practice launching. Route66 Ultimate Street car on 6/27 should prep me for that.
