Long story made short, i have a SC 95 max. Been having starting problems, changed the battery and the problem wasn't solved, I then attempted to change teh 140A battery fuse and in the process, while disconnecting the battery terminals dropped the wrench somehow, and a spark of electricity ensued, now, I do not have any electrical response at all, how can I fix this? I hope this does not mean by ECU is fried? Thanks.

 

Before you go freaking out about the ECU being fried, you need to check the battery itself and all of the fuses. More than likely you just blew a fuse or something. It is also possible that you could have drained a cell in the battery with the sudden surge from the metal connection that was made.

But if I were you I would check these things before worrying about the ECU, check that last.

sounds like a problem that 1MAX2NV had. id pm him and see of he can help. like blake said check every last fuse. if you can have the battery checked by a car parts store or switch out batteries with another car.

My guess... Starter. Who has a 95-96 and hasn't replaced there's yet?

 

I managed to put a battery in backwards once. (Don't ask ) It fried the alternator and melted a fusible link. Took me a while to figure out the link part. It is basically a piece of wire that melts at a certain voltage. It is designed to protect your electrical system and ECU. Check yours. Granted, my car is a VG. However, there has to be something similar for a VQ. Mine was attached to the positive terminal cable. It plugged in. Hope this helps and good luck.

 

thanks for the advice guys, how do I check all the fuses? Some are obvious (little ones), but what about the larger ones or the relays?

So what was it?

 

Probably the fusible link. Blew when he shorted the battery terminals.

 

you're right rpocketrocket, but alternator is bad, have to get it fixed.
