A question to those with lots of quarter mile track or autocross time. What parts on your Maxima have broken or worn out sooner than normal that you think was a result of driving the Max very hard?

Drag Racing

Most of us don't push enough power to break many things at the track. Traction, for the most part, is what kills parts on any car (mostly the tranny). If you launch hard and hook up hard (sub 1.9 60 foots), then you're asking for trouble. Most of us, however, spin quite a bit off the line and that reduces the strain on the tranny. 2.2-2.3 60 foots are the norm with these cars on street tires which isn't enough to break anything. The only way to get 2.0 and below 60 foots is with drag radials/slicks. You can wear out your clutch at the track if you slip it too much off the line or if you're a bad shifter. One mishift can wreck your whole car. Learn how to shift (ie holding the shifter the right way) before you ever attempt to shift fast and hard at WOT.

Auto X

Auto X isn't that hard on your car because you don't go WOT for long periods, nor are you shifting a lot. Most auto X courses only require one shift and the rest is braking, turning, and accelerating/decelerating. Auto X s hard on tires and brakes mostly.

i.e breaking an axle or halfshaft. Not good.
How do people (Maximas) with large amounts of power not break an axle or halfshaft? Or are the stock ones pretty beefed up.

I'm very hard on my car - but I maintain it - so even at 105k I'm still on my stock clutch and have needed no work of any kind since I got the car.
