If only getting 20 was an easy thing, we can't get 5 in 3 weeks let alone 20 more in a month. Anyway, the signup sheet is still there for people that want in. It'll be the easiest way to keep track of everyone. If you are on the list and don't want in anymore, please let me know.

Basically what I was saying earlier, is you can put me on the list now. I'm just waiting for 20 people. Seems like there's at least 2 others who feel the same way.

Not to be a buzzkill on your idea, but if 3 people are waiting for 20 and we only have 4, that means we need at least 17 more people to have enough confirmed. I'm in no serious hurry, but 100 bucks isn't a big enough deal to me to wait till Christmas.

...I agree. I will wait a few more weeks, but if the interest just isn't there I'll go it on my own and pay the extra few bucks!

Put me down...waiting on 20 though.

ReleasedTruth: could you make two lists at the top of this thread? One for people waiting on 10 people, and another for people waiting for 20 people? That way we can accurately see exactly where we're at. I know there's quite a few others waiting for 20 besides me.

I'll put the 2 lists up later today. So far I'm only listing people that have PMd or emailed me information. If you're interested, you gotta send me info like Name, phone, email, that sorta thing. Also list how many people you're waitin' for. Thanks all

Does anyone have pictures of flat vs. gathered inserts? In all the pics I've seen the seat surfaces are totally flat. I have factory leather and my seats are not gathered in anyway--they're totally flat. The door inserts are gathered though. I prefer flat on the doors but can't imagine what flat would look like on the seats if I have factory. I'm looking to replace it and want to make sure I get it right.

I might be interested. Do you need to get professional installation to get the leather tight, like in the pics from the website? If I do it myself, do I need special tools. I hate it when you see leather kits that are loose and baggy.

Here's the signup sheet. Please fill it out and email it to me. I'll combine all the data and keep everyone informed on our progress. Thanks

Remember, PM/email your info (name, phone, email), decide on your options, then I'll confirm and I'll add you to the lists. I'll send out messages 8/18 to confirm those listed are still in and how many in the deal they want. Thanks, Vito

I can't guarantee it'll turn out perfect for everyone, but I'm certainly going to do mine.

Thanks. Yeah, it didn't seem too complex. I just didn't know how tight you could get it by yourself. Good. Now I think I'll do it myself.

There was a recent group deal from here just a little while ago. I'm not sure how many of them posted results, but when I searched a few weeks ago I couldn't find any complaints.

There are a few dozen on this board who have posted pictures on there sites. If you have the time you can search for them and even send out some private messages to get opinions.

If it helps any, I plan on doing mine myself; and I have no prior experience! They do have a self-install kit that makes the install much cleaner, you'll definately want to invest in that option.

redfly. . .send your info to realesedtruth. Just so he can add you to the list so we can get even more people motivated to sign up. I think the bigger the list gets the more people will want to join. Everyone needs to send in there info. . especially if you are waiting for 20.

I'm going into my local Katzkin shop on Saturday, to check out their leather samples and prices. If you check out their website, www.katzkin.com, they have the exact same color choices/names as on www.leatherseats.com.

I spoke with a guy there on the phone, and he said that he was familiar with Leatherseats.com, and they sometimes buy leather from the Katzkin warehouse or something like that.

The samples look more puffy and gathered than flat like most of the leatherseats types. Didn't see any prices either, but I'm still waitin on the GD, see how it goes. If it doesn't go well, I'll go it solo after my stereo install

Is it possible to get custom leather for the front seats and standard for the back seats, as a part of this group deal? I plan to get racing seats, and if I get the leather, I'd want the leather to fit the racing seats, not the stock front seats.

Also, what kinds of places could do the install for you? I'm in Houston and I can't think of any places that would do this, except maybe Classicsofttrim, but they sell their own leather, not sure if they'd just do the install.

I think the deal is for all 4 seats and they would only match factory chairs, not racing chairs as they have the pattern for the factory. Any good upholstery place will do the job for 250-600 bucks, but I'll do mine myself.

Well that sux. Can you check with the seller, just to be sure?

What kind of upholstery places are we talking about, like furniture places, or are there actually shops that advertise "auto upholstery"? I'd do it myself, but it would take 2 weeks, I'd scuff up the leather, and it would look like crap .

The only number I have is the one listed. I'm near positive it's only for Maxima patterns or else the deal could add in other car owners. That's the stipulation and custom seats are not Maxima patterns.

Eric would be the one to talk to about the deal.

There are plenty of upholstery shops around. Tucson has only 700K people and there are nearly 100 in the yellow pages. Auto restylers, custom auto shops, places like that should have the experience needed.

Take the car seats out and take them in the house onto carpet. That way you don't have to wory about scuffing them up. Try to install them yourself. The best that could happen is you do them perfectly & save $$$. The worst that can happen is you won't be able to do them & have to get them professionally installed (pay the money)like you would have anyway. As long as you have the time and patience to try it, it's almost a no brainer.

I'm going to try mine myself first.

Yeah I would do like you suggest, but it is a pain to take those seats out. How do you remove the upper portion of the rear seat? There's some things I'll try myself, but some things I think should be left to professionals. I'm saving a lot getting the leatherseats.com leather, might as well not skimp on the install. It costs $1000+ for Classic Soft Trim leather with install.

Yeah, if you have the money, go for it. Just in case you do want to try, the back seats are easy. I assume you already know how to remove the bottom portion of the rear seat (those two pull rings).
For the rear portion:
Fold down the armrest(pull the plastic thingy off) and take out those two bolts
With the lower portion already out, you'll see four bolts along the bottom (where the lower portion meets the upper portion). They're pretty obvious and you won't miss them.
2 pulls and 6 bolts and voila...you're back seat is out.

They may, but the GD is only for Maxima pattern seats of any year they have available. At least that's what I was told

You guys can wait until XMAS if you want...youre not going to get 20 buyers. See the longer you wait, the more people who were in at the begining get caught up in other financial responsibilities and fall out. Once you have 13-14 people who say theyre ready to pay now, go for it. Not trying to be negative here...just offering advice from experience.
