My vote is for a one piece headlight / corner lamp. Dual projectors in each housing would be nice. A carbon fiber backgound instead a crome reflector would also appeal to me.

They do have these one piece headlights on ebay now.

He has posted the pictures of his unit several times. Check the threads again. He also has them on his home page if i'm not mistaken. I'm like you though, im waiting to see what these dual projectors will look like before i commit to one or the other.

i have no problem with indigo, in fact i apologize for giving him full idea that i was ready to grab one of his. I just rather have duals and even though these may or may not come out, with such a big investment, i want to make sure i get something thats gonna make me happy. I'm 99% sure that if Uminitza comes out with these i will grab them unless my boy Maxedoutofcash gets them first.

i have space on my CC just waiting for these.

No, I want a pic of the unit he's selling, not constant pictures of a headlight installed on his car. He is not selling that headlight, therefore I don't care what's on his car. I want to see the product I am buying. He's saying he's now moved to Mexico to open a factory... this sounds plausible and believable!

Sorry I haven't updated this thread in a while guys... but Umnitza has received the sample headlight pieces and they will be working on it this week. As soon as I hear anything from Matt I will update this thread.

They should now have a headlight and a corner light piece and will be making the first set to get us some pics and a definite price.

It will be a dual projector - no doubt about that. It will NOT use the 9004 as a result - no doubt about that. 9004 sucks in case any Maxima owners have not already figured that out.

What is yet to be determined is whether or not it will be 1-piece and that will be determined when they test different ideas on the sample pieces that they have.

I am definitely in for a set of these once they are ready. I already have a set of 9004 HID's so I hope I can somehow make them fit or else buy new bulbs. One piece with the corner light would look really nice but if it ends up being 2 piece thats ok. Just like Mecca said said...either way I am interested.

Cool... keep us updated!

Dual projector H9's or whatever... I'm in it for the lighting improvement, so as long as it's not 9004 it's all good.

Yea, is there a way you can adapt 9004 into it? Like some of use have HID kit conversions for the stock 9004 housing, any way to make it fit in these new housings?

Only halogen bulbs. no HIDs.
Why make projectors w/ a rare bulb base? ERRRR!!! Does BMW use H9s? Am I gonna have to goto a BMW stealership and buy bulbs?

Simply put: no.
(not without preserving the beam pattern anyway... see below!)

The 9004 bulb is the lowest-output, worst beam pattern bulb available.

The whole point of this headlamp setup is to use a higher-output, better beam pattern bulb, preferably a separate high beam/low beam setup for optimal light output and beam pattern. This, by default, means discarding the 9004 setup for something better, such as H4, 9005/9006, H7, or H9 or whatever.

You could always buy a new bulb for you existing HID setup to convert it from 9004 to whatever the new projectors use. IIRC that's only $100-150 or so.

(edit: long babble removed )

what are you trying to do?

you can use the hella 90mm projectors but you need to adapt them to use the d2s bulbs.
http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/hella-90mm/
you will not find anything other than d2s or d2r bulbs at dealers. the other bulbs(9004, h3, etc.) are just rebased from the two above and $uck.

As long as the projector has a deep enough opening, it shouldn't be terribly hard to fit an HID bulb in there. People have put the d2r bulbs in the 4th gen housing using silicon adhesive so a different base type isn't the end of the world. ie. People with 9004 based HIDs such as myself will probably be able to make them fit.

just a little confused. Is it the housing or the bulb itself that causes such a bad beam pattern, low quality lighting? if its both or the bulb also has something to do with it, i will gladly get rid of mine and keep my ballasts and just buy new bulbs. Speaking of which, is it the bulb or the ballast that gives the color. I had some great ballasts before what i got now and will be ****ED if its the bulb that gives the color

Oh, well.... yes and no, some bulbs have shields that actually give somewhat of a cutoff. But in this case, the projector is what will be fully responsible for the beam pattern. Oh and, the bulbs are what determine the color, not the ballasts.

Another thing I just felt like mentioning... it seems like everyone is so worried about putting HIDs into the stock 4th gen housings because of the beam pattern being messed up etc. Its indirect lighting (notice the shield inside our housing that covers the bulb), yes there is more light being scattered simply due to the fact that more light is created. It is a good idea to re-aim the headlights after putting HIDs in, but the way light is reflected on the ground should be no different, ie. hotspots or dead spots, than the normal 9004. When I installed my kit, the light on the ground looked to be distributed exactly the same way it was with halogen bulbs after I aimed them properly.

Oh, and I'm not saying the stock housings are good by any stretch of the imagination, I'll definatly want a set of the projectors when they become available.

I'm still waiting to hear from Matt @ Umnitza. The package tracking # shows that they have received the package with the sample stock headlights, and Matt wrote me an e-mail on the 20th saying that they were having a meeting to discuss this project on that day (Tuesday), but I haven't heard from him since. I will e-mail him again now and post his response here.

Thanks.

Guys, I owe you an apology for not responding sooner and one to Anish.

We've been very busy getting other products shipped and have neglected to answer all your questions, concerns and comments.

IN 2 hours, that will happen.

This community owes a deep debt of gratitude to Anish for his persistence and desire to put this together. Thank you Anish.

Yes, and I personally fell asleep.

There are more details to describe.

This cannot physically be a dual projector headlight, that's the bad news.

But we think we can make it a single bi-xenon projector headlight.

A) less expensive
B) Uses existing parts
C) quicker to market
D) pretty cool

More details later today.
