The reason we're not having him paint them is because he told me that if he paints them then they will be a little foggy looking, not clear like the current lenses are. So I figured it would be easier and cheaper to just get the lenses all clear and then buy some paint and paint them. If you're worried about not being able to find the paint I will find a place and post it so all can buy the paint when the time is ready.

A lot of people tend to use Testors Paint: Trans. Candy Red 3 Oz. Spray Can

You can probably find their ClearCote on their site also by typing "clear" in their search engine. Some local hobby stores might carry Testors Paint too.

1st alternative is:

Go to your local Michaels or so and get.

Krylon Stained Glass Red
&
Clearcote Acrylic Sealer (prefered Gloss Finish over Matte Finish)

This paint gives more of a darker color tone like the Acura TL tails. Still looks lovely.

2nd alternative is:

Go to a local body shop and have them paint it. LoL

seriously...hell im not going to believe anybody tell these come out. Cuz people have said in the past that someone is going to make them, and nothing ever happened. So there is no use of getting all worked up till these are actually made.

scientists used to say decades ago that trip to space is not possible because there in no way you can overcome earth gravity.... point is, if it did not happen in the past it does not mean it's not possible in the future..

That is so stupid since painting them yourself will result in the lights being foggy anyway. Unless we're saving more than $10 with him not painting them tell him to paint them.

How do you figure they will result in being foggy when you paint them yourselves? He uses a dye to change the color of the taillights not paint. His dye is permanent but I'm guessing of the chemical reaction that occurs makes them foggy. The paint will not make them foggy. There is a number of ways to get your lights painted. When the time arrives to purchase the taillights if you don't want to buy them then don't.

If this company lives up to their advertising they should be able to make a copy of out red/ambers lens but in red/clear. All we really need is a red/clear lens that we could reassemble to the stock housing. No?

YES!

Stop whoring and hijacking this thread then and start your own group deal?

Do you think that just because you have found a few companies to do this custom molding that it will be cheap or any faster than this? This company does not charge tooling costs or materials at this point. You should be thankful hacim has NOT given up like other people that tried to get these done. Injection molding is VERY expensive and I don't know any other way these companies you've contacted would make them.

if vans still makes taillight paint that would be the way to go.

the krylon does not fog like testors does. If i was to paint tails over id use Vans, over krylon, and krylon over testors.

VANS taillight paint is what DavidL used to make his famous red/clears... I can vouch for the paint cause it matches my inners 100% and its been 4years now that ive had these installed and no signs of fading.
