I'd have to agree. I take his point, but that pic is really uncalled for.

How exactly exhaust gases are directed to the turbo is really quite irrelevant. How the turbo and I/C are integrated as part of the entire system is far more important! I have shown detailed pics of these!

Nigel

ive told you before that i have pics of my setup on the cardomain NorCal maxima site or my own cardomain site. i havent and dont really take that many pics of my car cause i dont care to do that much. its not that im not generous, i juss dont got much sorry. you already got more videos then i have in 2 years of being turboed.

Nope!! We were there till 1:30 this morning finishing up.
Got all the fluid in the car, all vacuum hooked up. We were like should we give it a shot? Hell Yea!! We cranked it and it seemed as if there was not enough juice in the car I put a charger then the other Max and still seemed slugish. So what we're going to do tonight is make sure we got all the coilpacks hooked up right. And hope it turns on.

I Apologize gentlemen! It is not my pic. As you can yell from the link, it is hosted on someone else's site.

OK! I had a custom 3" catback put on yesterday. It is WAAAAAAAAAAAY loud! I am not sure that I like it cos it's soooo loud. Anyway, it flows a heck of a lot better! I haven't really gotten on it for fear of blowing the engine. The boost is definitely up after changing it. It was only at about 2-3 psi (turned down). Now it is around 4 to 5 and comes up faster too! Can't wait!

Nigel

Thanks for the hook up Kirk! It was a long drive down and up and took a long time to do but heck it was worth it!

Well doublea, as I said before, I agree with you but I think you might have been a little hard on him. He did appologize already. But it does bother me as well so maybe dashingmax can just delete his post. What do you think dashing?

Anyway, let's get back to turbos!...

Hey ptatohed, I didn't know he made some appology or excuses, so DashingMax please accepts my excuses, no one is perfect and I kinda jump the gun fast, I didn't want to ridiculise you, I was just defending the poor one.

Nigel, I am interested in purchasing a kit from you within the next month or so. I am looking at an intercooled, non-powdercoated kit WITHOUT the turbo. How much will this cost me? Also, what are the requirements for the turbo to work with this kit? Thanks guy.

Hi

The pricing is on page 1 of this thread. Looks like we may have two people so far on this. Get to five and the price goes down sidgnificantly.

The type of turbo really depends on the flange types to and from the turbo. We can provide any flange type you request if you do it up front. This kit can use T3/T4 if you like or TO4e (as I have). The nice thing about this kit is that it is upgradeable also. You just have to change one or two sections of pipe (slip fit) and you can bolt on a different turbo.

As of right now it is not available for autos....sorry! I will talk to my tuner soon about this again. I need to borrow an auto to let him have a look. Maybe I'll ask Dafro.

hey nigel i wanna ask you about your exhaust piping - is it all ran in the same factory loctaion all the way back to the muffler? or did you have to go under the rear axle beam?

There is no need to run under the rear axle. That would significantly decrease ground clearance. True, it will be higher flowing(Minimaly) but would not be worth it. If Im not mistaken Nigel replaced everything(including cat) from the y-pipe back. Everything. New muffler, pipes, cat, all the goods.

I don't know but it should be around $150 cheaper since you don't have to pull off the bumper, lights, cut the front bumper and mount the intercooler. It saves quite a bit of time! If you are serious I can look into it. I have had too many requests for pricing on this and that with nothing to show for it.

Yeah, what Kirk said is true. Mine runs where the stock one does. I am happy with it ... except it's a little loud for me. It's not worth running straight pipe. 3" is more than enough flow for this turbo. Don't think I lost much on the low end either because of turbo back pressure on the engine.

I have replaced cat all the way back. I will dyno this week or next. My boost is still pretty low. Turned it down for this install.

I tried to help out by just talking to the shop, but they never responded to my email. If the group deal is on, and I can get a resonable install price I would be very interested. I think I will try and get my own turbo and waste gate as I have a shop that thinks they can do it for $700.

Yeah

I am not sure that they want to deal directly with people since I am trying to put a group deal together. What is your definition of reasonable price? Is the price on page one not so? They may not be able to give exact pricing also because I provided some of the parts. I calculated in the parts provided as part of my install to give total cost.

Hey, you should join the Colorado maxima club. Go to the west coast forum for more info. Our next meet should be at Bandimere in Denver on April 13th.

To get a Turbo kit PM or Email Nigel. Im just here to try to answer the small questions, the big ones are up to him.

How much was the install, and what parts did you add. I was thinking of just getting the Walbro and the BOV. I think I will upgrade the rest as I go. Plus the 3400 price includes shipping, so what is the unshipped price.

Thanks alot Nigel

I added Walbro pump, HKS BOV, Tial wastegate, and whole bunch of gauges, off the top of my head.

I am in the process of adding boost controller and turbo timer.

I can honestly see where Alex and Matthel spent so much money. But you can build it up over time. At a minmum I would get the EGT or boost gauge (preferably both).

As far as unshipped goes ... sorry man no break there cos there's sales tax. That's how we got free shipping. If you ship within CO, there's a double hit!

i know you probably don't know the answer to my question but i want boost but i am not gonna be greedy about it so 4-5psi is plenty, i have a cattman 2.5in ypipe and a greddy catback, will this piping be sufficient? its not gonna choke the turbo?? Any insight would be helpful.

If possible could you find out if your people could just sell the piping? Just the manifold and downpipe. And if so for how much?

Actually, I do know the answer ! 4-5 psi is what I will run as normal. I have a boost controller now and can run as high as 20 psi (that's the rating of the boost controller not the engine) Engine is probably good to 8-10 psi (don't know for sure yet).

With your pipe set up, you should be good to go. For the y pipe, we can either modify it to fit the turbo or we can provide the entire custom pipe. My feeling in your particular case is that you might want to consider selling the Cattman Y pipe and get our custom ...but that's up to you. Greddy Catback I think is 2.5" and is Mandrel bent all the way back with no resonator restriction (I think) This will work fine. It will probably not choke it at 4-5 psi, don't know about higher psi and higher rpm.

I finally put my boost gauge in today. Unfortunately, I bought a metric one instead of imperial Well it still works! I seem to be running at about 5.5 psi. The car doesn't seem to pull quite as hard as before which is weird. I have installed the turbo timer and boost controller just needs the vacuum pipes to be hooked up now. I bought one of those Greddy gauges with peak hold feature. It's nice!

Well I plan to go and dyno soon! Thought I'd just let you guys know what's happenning!

i apologize in advance if this has already been posted in this thread, but i didn't have the free time to comb through every single post. raceeng.com told me they will make custom engine components, any compression pistons. it's been awhile since i called, but i don't remember it being anymore expensive than the quoted price for custom arias slugs. if you're taking apart the block, i'd also recommend those of you who do get the turbo kit to get iron sleeves. remember, our vq's are all aluminum. even though it's a really great design, iron is much more boost friendly and the iron sleeves would definitely make me, and should you, feel much safer about doing a 15+ psi setup. good luck all. if it's still available (which i'd hope so) in a year or so, then i think i'll be in it too! btw, for exhaust, i know warpspeed is making 3" components last time i checked, go there.

Iron sleeves what do you think the pistons are riding on the aluminum?
