Installing struts....

I was wondering if installing struts can be done without professional equipment. I just spent $1000 on a new paint job, 1800 on rims, $700 on expanding my stereo system. Pick my car up from the body shop, and dammit, now it feels all bounchy in the back. Thinking that means I need to replace the struts... I can get struts for 160, but I don't have 200 dollars for the labor, and won't for some time. Is there a FAQ related to this? Help!!!!

I havent done it but I know its in the FAQ....I think all you need is the spring compressor. If you want a professional to do it its gong to cost a minimum of 50 for each side unless you have a friend /hook up...

I have a write up at home I can post, but a search should turn up a good how to. The rears are much easier than the fronts.

Mike , if you could post that FAQ I would do a backflip, being that I only need to install rears....

I'm just ****ed , I'm at work looking at my beautiful paint job ( hunter green with a
touch of electric blue and silver paint flicks ) out the window, knowing my weekend is lost trying to replace struts....

I'm not sure about the I30 but on I35 the rear was pain in the A$$... to get those nuts off in the trunks to release the struts...... and front was easy.....

I forgot that this was just write up was just for the fronts. The rears are basically the same. To get to the strut bolts, remove the side carpeting from the trunk. The stut bolts are on either side where the wheels well is. You may have to almost climb into the trunk to loosen and tighten them.
