04 i35 instrument cluster question

This is bugging me and I haven't been able to find an answer on google or searching this forum, so I'll just ask. Keep in mind I just bought a used i35 a month ago and this is my first experience driving an infiniti, though I used to have an 02 Max and an 07 Altima.

What's the story with the lighting on the i35 instrument cluster? When I start the car its a pale orange glow, and then gradually turns pale green. (I don't really love the color).

Anyways, I was driving last night and noticed that the fuel gauge was glowing orange and everything else sort of a neutral, off white color. (headlights were on so the instrument panel was dimmed). Any reason for this? As far as I can recall it's normally always green. Anyhow, the color shift was weirding me out so I thought I'd see if anyone had any ideas why it might do that (or if it was normal).

Is it a weather thing? I haven't had my car for long (a 2003) but I've noticed that the color shift was most dramatic when it was below 10 degrees outside. It seems that the warmer my car is to begin with the closer the color is to normal.
