2001 Infiniti i30 intermittent issue that is somewhat stumping me
Hey all - I don't usually ask for help here as I can figure out most issues, but this is kind of stumping me. If I put the car in drive or reverse (no gas) typically the car would roll a little bit right? My issue is my car is not moving at all when in gear with no gas (once i give it gas it drives and shifts perfectly fine)
Replaced one caliper as it was slightly frozen and the problem got a bit better, but I drove a bit and the problem seemed to return. Checked transmission fluid, level seems good...don't see anything leaking. Is this possibly a speed sensor or some kinda neutral control switch issue? or is my trans on its way out? finding that hard to believe as it shifts incredibly smooth. I haven't checked the other calipers or the e-brake yet but that's my next thing to look at and of course I'm going to do that becuase its mostly easy but wanted to see if anyone has any other ideas or had experienced this? The fact that it's intermittent is whats stumping me...if it were truly another frozen caliper or e-brake I feel like the issue would be more consistent

I could see a sticking caliper be an intermittent problem if it's cold some days and warm other days, but generally yeah, it shouldn't be intermittent like that. For a long time I though my rear calipers were sticking but it turned out to be my e-brake cables. Water got in them somehow and when it was freezing they would lock up. I replaced my cables and haven't had a problem since. If you're able to, put the car on jack stands when it's having this problem and see if you can spin each wheel freely.
From your description, it sounds like your car is an automatic. I *believe* your issue could be caused by the torque converter going out. If you haven't changed the trans fluid recently, you may want to do that and see if there's any improvement.

turns out it was the brake hose going into the caliper that was leaking/damaged. Was not allowing the caliper to return off the rotor so it just locked up on it. Spent a lot of money on other stuff for a stupid like $15 part but its fixed lol. Trans is good luckily
