I mentioned this in the upper midwest maxus caravan thread but i'll recap real quick.

it's either leave friday at 5 in the morning or leave thursday night. that's a definite since when i googled it, it came up as a 12 hour trip (maybe cut that down to 11!?)

I'll see my friends that are going to maxus tomorrow night so we'll get the departure date down at least and then i'll post on here.

Sounds good. You can post all your caravan planning in the other thread.

Thanks.

Good question. I'm heading up from the N'ooga, anyone else from ATL going?

I would like to add a few great points of interest on the website. Like famous restaurants or clubs.
Not sure how "famous" it is. I've never been there. Coolmax and SuperChris go there a lot though...

3 times for me, since you're keeping track.
A lot is how often you think about Mario's, even never having been there...

Yes, there is a large caravan coming from the Southeast, including ATL. You can read more about it here:

Mario's is a local favorite, but it's famous enough to have Oprah's autographed picture on the wall.
However, the parking lot only has about 10 spaces so it isn't ideal for a meet.

In fact, it's probably better that 00MaxSE meets Topher there on his own for that sammich he so desperately craves.

I'd be down for joining the Chicago caravan, but being the 'old guy' and 200 miles more than from Chicago, I was figuring on a 2 day trip to DC. Any chance of leaving earlier than Thurs. night?

We really want to, but with me and Kozue having limited Vacation days left, we thought leaving Thursday night would be suitable. For now its to early to say, but maybe me, Kozue, and others can have a half day at work instead of a full day and we leave Chicago early to mid afternoon? I'm sure we will work the kinks out soon. I'll talk to the Chicago guys and see their thoughts on this.

When would you be leaving DC? 1 or 2 day trip back?

I would like to break apart the 12 hour drive (i'm sure a lot longer for you) into 2, 6 hour drive....leave the bbq around 3pm on sunday, stay in ohio somewhere again and then drive out from there... I have a feeling the first 6 hours on the drive back will fly by fast... it's the drive thru IN that's ridiculously boring and LONG that i'm worried about... so be back Monday afternoon in the Chicago area...

I'm trying to arrange it so no one is driving alone.... that way it'll be safer.. will you be coming down from WI to IL by yourself or will your son make it as well?

That sounds good for the drive back. What about the drive out there? Would that be straight through? I have an IL. IPASS...Is that good in Indiana?
I'd love for Tim to come along but I don't think he'll be able to get the time off work..

The drive there will be broken up to thursday evening and friday. I can't leave work earlier than 5 so I say we leave the schaumburg area around 6...I received a post card in the mail the other day saying that we can use the IPASS almost everywhere on the way to east coast except ohio.....

That's awesome! Please keep in touch about this trip. You have a pretty good chance of winning the Farthest Traveled trophy!

More details will be posted about the Awards Presentation, that will be held on Sunday, on the website: www.maxus09.com

Think in '05 and '06 for Maxus I had the longest drive to Texas, around 1750 miles one way. Driving down to Texas both years I took my time. However getting home both years I completed the trip 28~30 hours non-stop from Dallas to my home... My advice is to bring music that will keep you awake and ALOT of Redbull and/or Monster engery drinks.

im not gonna speed or at least try and not get one speeding ticket
my goal is to come back with the same driving record as I started with. That road course is either gonna make it better or worse

That's great! If you don't mind, try to get more Chicago Maximas to come out.

Yeah. I've had to do that in my 92 Maxima on several occasions when driving from Las Vegas to the east coast. Road trips are a blast!

Category for what exactly? We consider the I30/I35s as Maximas. So they will be judged equally in the Car Show, which will not have a specific "I series" class.

The specific Car Show classes and rules should be released within the next couple days.

In the meantime, please read over the Drag Showdown and Dyno Shootout classes and rules on the website:
