I ditched the lower grille block around 8/13. Latest fill up was 29.7mpg with 90% city.

I made a rear diffuser last week on 8/22. I need to do some back to back testing, but so far it seems to be helping.

Hats off to you!

Any pics of the rear diffuser?

I'm looking into fabbing some under belly pans and a grille block for my 01 Altima.

Funny thing is, I got that same mileage all highway a little over a month ago with the ac on.

Sure, the duct tape straps were temporary until I drilled two holes in the spare tire well to bolt the diffuser to. I'll probably make the next one longer to run it up in front of the spare tire well so that not as much air will get 'trapped' in it.

Being cardboard, its obviously not the final version. With that said, here it is:

I still have some FRP leftover so I'll make one or two out of that and then I'll get a sheet of corrugated plastic and see how that works out.

Filled up after a tank with the rear diffuser on it. 28.8 mpg 78% city. Looks like I'll need to mess with the design sooner than later, either that it was the extra hwy miles compared to the last fuel up.

I've added another section of the rear diffuser under the center of the spare tire well and the muffler area. Filled up last night and got 29.7mpg again with a cracked fuel sender unit.

Here's what happened after I filled up on the 17th

I just have some silicone on the crack until I have a chance to go pick up another fuel sending unit.

Went to the track last night and tested the rear diffuser and my 3.5" maf vs stock.

DA was about 2100'

With the colder weather and iffy track prep, my launches were worse than they usually are. 2.4x 60' all night, with the exception of a 2.37 and 2.38 60'. Tires were at 24psi.

Quickest pass was 2.37 60' 14.71@96.47
Fastest Pass was 2.43 60' 14.85@97.38

3 runs with rear diffuser, 3.5" MAF:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/schmellyfart/8083718320/
3 runs without rear diffuser, with 3.5" MAF:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/schmellyfart/8083718182/
2 runs with stock MAF and same length piping as my 3.5":
http://www.flickr.com/photos/schmellyfart/8083722723/
Unfortunately there is no hard evidence as to whether or not the stock MAF is better for my 3.0. By this time I had under 1/4 tank of gas and the car would cut out at the top of 3rd gear so I had to let off and get back on the throttle to finish out the last bit of the 1/4 mile. The kicker is that I ran nearly identical times even with the car cutting out on me. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

I also have EU logs if anyone wants them.

And my Lawn mower battery didn't die on me Just had to be mindful of the lights and other electric things.

Same mods as my 195/174 dyno. I guess all there is left to do is have the car weighed. But other than that, I say that its down to climate/location. Unfortunately there aren't any local Maximas comparable to mine.

I've been keeping an eye on my MPG and coolant temp on my SGII. I'm not too worried about it overheating since the weather is starting to cool down.

When I get some free time, I want to do a few coast down tests with and without the grille block.

this is proper! with everything you got?

what would you say was a more noticeable gain... pftf+big maf or headers with custom y? i know that you installed them at different times and prob the headers after the intake mods but let me know anyway, trying to figure out my next move

I really want to see how the top end looks with a working vias, I know the midrange is there with the power rod.

bbmaf on the 3.0 only gained 2-3whp, pftb provided better throttle response. I'd have to say the headers/y pipe.

perfect thanks a lot dude, that really helped narrow down on what i want to do.. looks like i'll be putting them on and adding a PR CAI and callin it a day for power mods

2.5k-4krpm is fun around town but i too would like to see how much power i'm "missing" up top... i think i'll keep it in until it breaks... or until you do this next dyno comparison lol

I'm afraid that I won't be doing the comparison. The dyno/track day I was planning on going to got rained out, and this manifold is going to be swapped out pretty soon.
