Beware the Frankencar intake with no support bracket.

Long Story below:

I have had my Frankencar intake installed for around 10K miles. I used one of the stock bolts that were from my stock intake. Well, it kept coming lose and one time I tried tightening it, it snapped. Therefore I drilled the bolt out, but I decided to leave the bolt off. BIG MISTAKE. Last night I pull into the garage and notice that my car is smoking from under the hood. I started fraking out. Turns out that the Frankencar rubbed a small hole in the AC line. For your own benifit, I recommend to secure your Frankencar or suffer the consequences.

Here are pics.

Hmmmmmm...I have 14k on mine, better go check.

Looks good! My Monsterflow doesn't touch the AC line. At least you found it before it got worse.

I also noticed that the filter is rubbing quite a bit on the wire loom that sits underneath the filter and in front of the strut tower.

That is the same line that I busted, but for a diffrent reason. You are looking at 65-$100 to replace that line. The dealer charged $103 but I got it online for 65 plus shipping. The smoke you saw was refrigerant coming out, but you know that already. After I installed the new line I put wire loom over it so what happend to me won't happend again. I hope. As for the frankencar mount. I ordered a midpipe and was dissapointed that I wasn't able to use the stillen mounting harware. So I had to ghetto rig one. After reading this I am glad that I did. Good luck on fixing that line.

I have a connection at an Infinity dealer. Thanks t56gen3 for the hookup. It will be around 57 for the line and a couple of bucks for the O rings. The guy is also going to let me use the devise to drain and refil the AC. This really sucks. Now I really wish I would have bought the Injen.

I knew something like that was going to happen.

That's why I still have mine in the box.

Since the OEM supported the MAF, I'd make sure you do too.

Ok...I see. Hopefully, yours doesn't have the blow-off flange though.

Similiar experience here with a PR intake expect it was not my AC line but one of those brake lines shown in the picture. Lost all brake fluid and eventually the brakes. Had to have it towed to the dealer and have that line replaced (it went to the front left brake).

I have the same exact problem.. For now i wrapped the line with electric tape.

The best solution is use washers to lift the bracket a bit higher...

125F+ doesn't matter if it's wet or dry, still unbearable. I've been to El Paso, it aint sheit.

I thought humidity is better for performance?
