After going crazy trying to locate the leak in my trunk, I finally found it!!
I had my rear window replaced about two years ago at the dealer because my rear defrost didn’t work, now I need to know do I have to send it in to change the window or can I seal it my self?? Also, water is accumulating in my spare wheel well, any suggestions how to rust proof it?? I see a little rust; I don’t want it to spread.

Thanks

If you can identify the exact location of the leak, you can probably "goop it up" with a sealant. The best repair requires removal of the window, application of a bead of sealant, and reinstallation of the window. This is a job best done by a professional, as there is some risk of glass breakage.

Please contact the dealer which installed this window two years ago. They might do this repair at no charge, or at a discounted rate. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Re: I had the same problem

Uh, those rubber plugs you describe are for letting the water out.

DOH!

This doesn't really rlate to the topic but I thought it was funny.
I backed my 92 camry out of the driveway one day and saw a huge stain running down the driveway. I was puzzled.
Next day I open the trunk to see that I had forgotten to dispose of the old battery I put in there.
The battery had tipped over and leaked acid. It ate right through the trunk.
Oh yeah, the car reaked of battery acid for the next two months!

Did i fix it? Nope
Did it rust? Don't know never looked

You can spray it with some Rustoleum. It turns the rust into primer. That should prevent it from spreading. They also make another chemical that does it but I can't seem to remember what it is called. You can get it at hardware stores.

As Ravq said, spray some rustoleum on it and let it dry. Maybe put about 2-3 coats on it to really prevent the rust from spreading. Also, go underneath the car and spray some there as well. When it dries, get some paint that matches your car, white in my case, and spray that over the rustoleum. That will jsut "seal" up the car much better. Hope this helps.
