I need to buy tires today and i'm not sure whether I should get the 215/60/16 instead of the 215/55/16. I want to do this because its cheaper...I dont care about the speedo I just need to make sure that it will be good on my 99 max.

Use the tire calculator in the sticky...anything under 5% and you should be ok.

 

go with 55, you'll get better handeling and that's what is suppose to fit 16 inch rims for our maximas

It is not just the speedometer; it also changes your gearing (upward) about eight to nine percent: your low gear will not be as low, and your high gear will be more like overdrive. If you do more highway cruising than pulling away from lights, that could be a good thing:: you will get more miles per gallon with the larger diameter tire. The equivalent in a 60-series tire to a 215/55-16 is 195/60-16; that will have the same overall diameter and revs per mile as a 215/55-16.

 

I dont do a lot of highway...does that mean this is a bad thing gas mileage wise?
