This has only started happening within the past two months in my 2000 SE...but when i turn on my ac, there is a loud noise coming from behind the glove compartment.It almost sounds like a motor is going bad. Has anyone had a similar noise or issue like this??

 

you probably have leaves and other various crap in there.

 

one time i had a loud clicking/ticking noise comnig from behind the glove box....i think thats what ur experiencing, it happened for like a day and i never heard it again.

 

Thats where the AC blower motor is. It may have gone bad($100ish) or there are leaves in there causing the sound.

 

i just posted a response to something like this!
i had the same thing, on fan speeds 2-4. felt like the fan was turning against something, like it was out of place. nonetheless, i took it out and sprayed some wd-40 on the bearing and it runs fine now. there was a TSB someone posted earlier from other thread, but what i did worked for me
