Took out passanger seat w/ airbag... reinstalling???

I took out my passanger seat which has an airbag in it. I am wondering if there are any precautions I need to take while plugging it back in??? Someone told me the airbag may deploy if I dont do it right. He said to unplug the battery and I should be fine. Does anyone have experiance in taking out the seats with airbags in them? Its a 98 if that makes any difference. The airbag light currently is flashing because the seat is not plugged in.

Thanks for any info
Matt

wow, didn't know 4g's came w/ airbags in the seats. that sounds like a safe bet though. i'm sure you'd be fine just plugging it back in, but unhooking the battery wouldn't hurt.

huh? AFAIK, 4th gens, at least USDMs, only had airbags in the steering wheel and dashboard passenger side.

Did somebody TELL you that you had airbags in there or something?

There's usually one plug on maxima power seats, which is for the seat motors. But if you car came with cold weather package, then they will have a second plug, which is for the heater mats in the seats.

side curtain air bags in the seats, they are rare so u r lucky to have them.

i duno much about reinstalling them, but undoing the battery sounds like an idea that would not hurt

yea like nightspyder said, when messing with the airbags always disconnect the battery and let it set for at least 10-20 min

why let it "Set" ? shes not made of dough...

disconnect, turn the key to the ACC, nothing happens, take out key and do what u want.

Residual electricity is gone when u turn to ACC, as well as any capacitive properties.

I would just disconnect the battery and reinstall it. Should have to wait too long.
After you disconnect the battery try to turn on the car, it will "suck the juice" out of the car.
