Bose System Opinions. dont hate.
whatup. please keep the flaming to a minimum. im looking for genuine opinions here.
im trading in my 95 gle in a couple days for an 04 se with every option, including the controversial bose stereo. i dont consider myself an audiophile, but the bose system in my 95 was in my opinion, stellar. loud as *****, decent lows, and pretty good highs. im not the kind of person to spend 2 g's putting a system in my car. ithe music i listen to runs the gamut, and i think the 95 bose handled all of them very well (from wu tang to dashboard)
can i expect an improvement? i know i know bose sucks blah blah blah. im looking for some straight shooting here. 320 watts seems like a good bit of power in my estimation. anyone else had a 4th gen with a bose then went to a 6th with bose?...and what were your thoughts.
thanks a lot. i tried searching with boardtracker, buit it kept sending me to random 5th gen posts that had nothing to do with what i was searching for.

Now don't get me wrong the bose system is "good" but not anywhere near great. They used to be top of the line back in the day and for homes still hold their title. IMHO I think if you are going to have a maxima built with what you want then do what you feel is right. However the bose system is not cheap in the least bit and if you are unhappy then you are stuck unless you want to replace everything. I mean speakers and all. You might allready know that the bose system can not support different speakers unless you are to add just an amp and subs. If you go with the stock setup "Not BOSE" then you can change and upgrade. The cd changer for the Bose when I had it ran like crap and had to be fixed and replaced. The back window speakers I thought where blown but turns out just couldn't handle the base I wanted coming from the bose itself. Those were my problems not necessarily everyones. Good luck with your decision, hope this helped.
I honestly think the Bose system is one of the best stock systems I have ever heard in any car. I was really taken aback when I came to the org and saw how many people really didn't like it. I've never figured it out; I've written it off as people who are used to expensive aftermarket setups. My last car system was in a stock 98 Cavalier...this is very much an improvement

I also think it is one of the best stock systems I have heard. But I, along with many people, have constant issues with our stock bose radios as the left side speakers keeps on cutting out due to a ribbon cable inside the radio not making proper contact. However, I am still not putting in an aftermarket headunit.
I just got an 04 yesterday. I think the "No highs, no lows, must be Bose" sounds like POO. Its been a long time, but I swear my 96 sounded better.
I'm guessing its a PITA to replace w/ aftermarket?

I recently upgraded as well from a 97 gle to a 04 se with bose and navi and honestly I thought the 97 bose sound was better (highs and loudness). The 6th gen does have 320w but its with more speakers and IMO useless subs in the rear deck that I hoped would have provided better mid-bass. I mean it sounds good for stock stereo, I LOVE my navi, and when i added my subs it sounds a lot better. A good thing of note is my pac oem adapter from my 4th gen fit the 6th gen so installing the subs cost me a total of like $8. I added 2 12inch Kicker comp VR's and a Rockford fostgate 250.2 (yes old school amp that hopefully never dies) beware if you go the pac route you have to remove quite a lot to access the harness' but no wire cutting.
