Replacing fr struts. What else?

My front right Tokico is shot and am replacing w/ Monroe Gas matics per org member. I've read several threads that suggest replacing sway bar bushings, strut mounts, etc. Are there things I should DEFINITELY replace w/ new struts? And what parts need to be CHECKED for wear/replacement? 97' w/ 165K miles....lil aggressive in turns at times but generally led a good life. Axles were replaced 2 yrs ago. Thanks!

OK, well let me preface that a bit. I was initially asking about re-installing the OEM struts when he suggested the Monroes. I'm keeping the Eibachs for the lowered ride...and am OK w/ a more compliant ride...and lookin to spend as lil $$ as possible to get a decent ride.

Better suggestions? And per original ??....anything else I should def replace?

Thanks!

Strut bearings, if they weren't already on the list.

Monroe's may not have enough damping to control the Eibach's, which could lead to a bouncy ride.

For less bucks...KYB's? Or just replace the one bad Tokico blue and hope the drivers side isnt ready to die? Bearings seem to be a popular item and what about Eibach adjustment kit...given I have Eibachs on there now?
Thanks!

gr2 would be the better match for eibachs for sure. the ride will be more harsh however, so if you need a comfy ride stay with the hp's.

GR2's MUCH harsher than Tokico's? Wow. DEF don't want that. Think the Monroe Sensa Trac's any better match?

in general, KYB are valved stiffer than Tokico's. stay with Tokico if you want a smoother comfortable ride.

Honestly I wouldnt pair any non adjustable with such a stiff spring like eibach. Monroes are crap from what I read. They may work fine, they may blow in a month. I really dont know.

If you really wanted a good ride, read comfy, you would buy konis and shorten them.

If you want a comfy ride, get rid of the Eibachs and go with something softer. The struts are only used to slow the motion of the car and should compliment the springs. Putting a crap soft strut under a stiff spring will only result in the "riced-out honda bounce" and give you crap ride quality.

If you want to keep the Eibachs, then replace the fronts with a new PAIR of Tokicos, or buy a pair of GR-2s up front. On 3 gens, the Tokicos are a much better strut and last longer than the GR-2, but that's evidently not the case for 4 gens... Either way, you need somethign condierably better than Monroe.

Put it this way..... I wouldn't put Monroes on my Grandma's Buick. They're STILL too soft.
