Replacing fr struts. What else?
Replacing fr struts. What else?
My front right Tokico is shot and am replacing w/ Monroe Gas matics per org member. I've read several threads that suggest replacing sway bar bushings, strut mounts, etc. Are there things I should DEFINITELY replace w/ new struts? And what parts need to be CHECKED for wear/replacement? 97' w/ 165K miles....lil aggressive in turns at times but generally led a good life. Axles were replaced 2 yrs ago. Thanks!
OK, well let me preface that a bit. I was initially asking about re-installing the OEM struts when he suggested the Monroes. I'm keeping the Eibachs for the lowered ride...and am OK w/ a more compliant ride...and lookin to spend as lil $$ as possible to get a decent ride.
Better suggestions? And per original ??....anything else I should def replace?
Thanks!

For less bucks...KYB's? Or just replace the one bad Tokico blue and hope the drivers side isnt ready to die? Bearings seem to be a popular item and what about Eibach adjustment kit...given I have Eibachs on there now?
Thanks!
Thanks!
If you really wanted a good ride, read comfy, you would buy konis and shorten them.
If you want a comfy ride, get rid of the Eibachs and go with something softer. The struts are only used to slow the motion of the car and should compliment the springs. Putting a crap soft strut under a stiff spring will only result in the "riced-out honda bounce" and give you crap ride quality.
If you want to keep the Eibachs, then replace the fronts with a new PAIR of Tokicos, or buy a pair of GR-2s up front. On 3 gens, the Tokicos are a much better strut and last longer than the GR-2, but that's evidently not the case for 4 gens... Either way, you need somethign condierably better than Monroe.
Put it this way..... I wouldn't put Monroes on my Grandma's Buick. They're STILL too soft.
