ES motor mount modification for auto's

Just thought I'd throw this out there for people who have automatics and want to put both front and rear ES motor mounts on the car. Take the front off and make a spacer from aluminum, then press it into the bracket, then press in the mount. I'd make them for a fee but I'm out of work for about a month and a half and don't have access to a lathe...

t-6061, Although it wouldn't really matter, as long as it is in the bracket tight, and the bushing is tight. I used aluminum as it is easier to machine, could use steel if you want.

You (OP) wouldn't happen to have written the inside diameter (ID) and outside diameter (OD) and sleeve width down would you? With that, one could go to a local machine shop.

I guess ill add this to someone who might find this while searching this topic, but You can also just replace the whole thing with an MT car's mount.

you wont need the aluminum piece if you dont have the sensor on the front mount....if you have the sensor in the front mount then you need this

How much better is your launch out the hole under heavy throttle? The Good Vibe is a joke by the way. I just used 3M Window Weld on my neice's Toyota Tercel (4 ea) motor/trans mounts and it was little idle vibration at the beginning but I guess it's good now, cause all she doing is piling up the miles.

How long did it take the poly to fully cure/dry and does it feel like to you that they had to break in?

This is true, but the front mounts are getting harder to find. And this is a cheaper option as I found most wreckers will not sell you the one mount, they want to sell the whole crossmember for 100 + dollars.

someone was asking me the dimensions for the ring. Off the top of my head the OD is just over 100mm. But I also noticed that after pushing the crappy mount out of the bracket that, the hole was not perfectly round. So I measured across the small diameter, then measured across the large, averaged it out and added about .010". Then press fit it in on the hydraulic press.

auto's have a larger front mount than the rear mount, so if you want to use ES mounts you can only put one on the back mount, or buy a 5 speed front mount which are getting harder to some by. or you can do what I did for a friend of mine and put this spacer in

Is there a write-up anywhere on how to change out motor mounts? Also, i suspect i have a malfunctioning motor mount as i have been having excess vibration and a very hard jolt from the motor when i put the car in drive when cold..any way to check which one is messed up? I have access to a cnc machine and might be able to make that aluminum ring myself on spare time.

What happens when it gets hot and expands at a different rate than the steel?
