NOS from jcwhitney

I was just wondering if anyone has purchased the NOS kit from www.jcwhitney.com Please leave some feedback because I'm thinking of purchasing it.

It's not really a Jcwhittney kit, it's made by Holley under there NOS name, Quite a few people on this board have it, myself included. They had it on sale a while back for $390 shipped. Took about 2 weeks to get it from them, sometimes they are on backorder though. NOS #5124. Get it, use it, go fast, have fun...

NOS refills? Where? How much?

Ok, ok, before you laugh me off this thread, I'll admit, this is a question from the uni-NoS-iated (uninitiated).

Where do you get NoS tanks refilled?

How much does it cost? (per lb. [?])

Just trying to learn a little here.

Thanks in advance!

Re: NOS refills? Where? How much?

A lot of your local performance shops will be able to do nitrous refills. Ask around. It's normally like $3.50 per pound, at least around here it is.

And it's not NOS, it's nitrous oxide. Sorry, it just bugs me when everyone says NOS after the Fast and the Furious.

Thanks for the info. Btw, never saw "F&F." I heard it sucked. My misnomer was merely due to brand-name recognition, much like using the phrase "Xerox-copies," instead of photocopy.

I suppose you apply that rule to every product you encounter?

Eg.
You don't buy Q-tips, you buy cotton swabs?
You don't buy Kleenex, you buy facial tissue?
You don't buy. . .

I could go on, but I think you get my point. I didn't mean to "bug" you or offend your delicate sensibilities. I will try to be more conscientious by using generic terminology in the future. . .

"Forgive the ignorant if they are trying to learn. . ."

I got mine for $375 shipped back when they had the deal.

You might also want to check with your local laws on carrying NOS around.

In NJ you need a permit. This permit allows you to carry the NOS but not have it on.

Wow, so technically, it's illegal by the laws of NJ to use nitrous on the street? Sheesh - that sux. I wonder what the penalty $ is if you get caught with your valve hooked up?

Can you say servo-controlled remote quick valve release?!

It's technically illegal in all 50 states to use it on the street.

Is that if you go over the speed limit with it or in general?

In general.

You can have the NOS in your car, just not suppose to use it.

I'm guessing that if a cop were to see you suddenly "walk away" under accelleration while on the laughing gas, it might give him cause to look in the trunk 4 that blue bottle. . .

I guess it's a roll of the dice however you look at it. How good's your poker face? Mods, uh, what mods, officer?

Is it legal for them to look in your trunk though? I thought they could only look where it was open to the eye withotu a search order or something.

They need probable cause. But really...if a cop feels like it, he (or she) can look through your car whether you like it or not. Whether they can use whatever they find in a court of law...that's another matter.
