2003 Max: Car is auto locking itself. Help please
New to the site. My Maxima started auto locking random about a month ago. The other day it started doing it a lot. I researched and did the turn the key on for 20 seconds then push door lock until blinkers blink to make the auto lock stop. It did exactly what it was supposed to do. Then 15 minutes later it started auto locking like it was possessed. Won't stop. I got in the car to do the key thing again and it won't change. It just kept locking. It was so bad I couldn't get out of the car until I timed hitting unlock and pulling the handle at the same time. Unhooked the battery. Next day hooked it back up, no changes. Anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks!
assuming everything is oem and you don't have any aftermarket alarm system......
just to make sure you don't have a bad door lock switch, pull off the door panel and disconnect the door switch. Do the driver's door first and if problem is still there disconnect the passenger side.
if you have an aftermarket alarm system yank the fuse for the module or disconnect the pair of aftermarket door lock/unlock relays
