Thermostat replacement

My car is not overheating, but when I park the thing, it's spitting up fluid from the resevoir. I asked the dealer and he said that the thermostat might be sticking on and it's building up pressure in the system and releasing it through the resevoir. What do you guys think?

Also, on a 1 to 10 scale (10 highest) how difficult is it to replace the thermostat? Thanks!

Drain the coolant, take the 2 hose off the thermostat housing, take the housing off (3 or 4 bolts, one is very hard to get to, I'd jack up the passenger side and take the tire off for extra room), replace thermostat, use rtv blue sealant on the housing, and bolt it back on, and refill coolant.

It is not very hard, the whole thing took me 2 hours, but about 45 minutes of that was wasted trying to use the wrong tools to remove one of the hose clamps, that was turned away from me.

Somebody who know what they are doing (unlike I did at the time), could probably do it in an hour. And they wouldn't have forgotten to drain the coolant first, and made a huge mess either.

Get a manual chilton's,haynes, or FSM. I suggest all 3.

That long? I watched my g/fs father do it in about 15 minutes using just a socket set... After we spent an hour and a half draining the fluid because it was a 30/70 mixture of rust/water

Well, I spend about 45 minutes trying to get a hose clamp off with a broken pair of needle nose pliers. Then, I spent another 30 minutes cleaning up coolant because I didn't drain it first.
