Need help on adjustable FPR install

Ok I just picked up a stillen adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and since it doesnt have any instructions with it, I am gonna need some help. First I assume the barb on top goes on the vaccum line that was in the stock fuel pressure regulator, now I need to know what the AN fitting on the bottom go to and where the nitrous pressure regulator and bypass tee come in to play in this setup, I will look to see if I can answer my own questions but any help would be great.

Your FPR should have 2 AN fittings, an intake and return, otherwise it won't work.

The vaccum doens't change. Just run the hose (off of the NPR tee) to the new FPR.

Lots of pics: http://www.ericj.org/maxima/img/sard/

Yeah it has the 2 AN fittings on the bottom, looking at your pics I am still confused about which hoses go where. I see the one coming from the rail where the old FPR was and then going into the new one, then where does the out line from there go to? And what is the 3rd hose?

The one off the rail is obvious. When you take the stock FPR off, you'll see the feed line. Its connected into the back of the stock FPR. You can't miss it.

I don't know which "3rd hose" you're refering to. The vaccum line?

Yes I guess the vaccum line, the one coming off the top of the regulator.

I think its 5/16" hose, but you may want to search.

Make sure you get high pressure fuel hose. Its made to hold 100PSI for fuel injected cars. It should cost about $5/foot. The cheap stuff (.99c/foot) is for non-fuel injected cars and can only hold about 15psi.

I don't know if you can get it at HD. I got mine at Pep Boys. If you're luckey, the person at the register will be dumb and only charge you for the low pressure hose.

On your pics I could read 3/8" ID so I am guessing that size will work, and yeah I always use the high pressure stuff it just happens that the HD near me sells it. Thanks alot for the help.

Well I tried to go to my local shop I usually go to today and when I got there they had closed down, so now I need to figure out what else I can use to attach the hoses to the AN fittings on the bottom. I have enough threads on the ends of the fittings right now to put the hoses but I am not about to hook them up with out some kind of AN fitting or hose barb, any ideas.

see if you can unscrew the an fittings off the stillen fpr. if you can im guessing the other side of the an fitting is a 1/8 or 1/4 npt fiting. you can get a NPT - barb or hose brass fitting at pepboys.

Yes they do unscrew but none of the brass npt fitting at Home Depot today would fit in the thread except the flare( which are basically AN) and none of those came in a barb, so looks like i will be off to the speed shop that I hate to go to tomorrow, god I hate going to that place.

Well I did take it in and test fit but I was in a hurry because I had to go home and get ready for work, so I am sure I missed something that would have worked, I am gonna go by again when I am out getting my fuel hose and I am sure if I spend enough time in there I can rig something up.

Does that fitting have teflon residue on it? If so, it must be a pipe thread. 1/8" NPT, 1/4" NPT or 3/8" NPT. I doubt it's any bigger than 3/8" NPT. If there isn't any teflon residue, it's not pipe thread. 5/16" is more close to the factory metric fuel lines. 3/8" ID would work too. Anyway...whatever hose barb size you get, just get the same size fuel hose. 1/8" NPT usually comes with 5/16" hose barb. 1/4" NPT usually comes with a 3/4 hose barb.

Funny you should mention that, I went to pep boys today to pick up the fuel line, got to the register, total for 5ft of 4.99/foot fuel line and some hose clamps = $7.75, she rang it up for the cheap stuff. I was trying not to laugh in line because I was thinking about that post.

Pep Boys employees aren't that [homer]smrt[/homer]. I feel bad, but I don't lie. They ask what it is, and I say, "3/8 inch fuel hose". You'd think they'd notice the HIGH PRESSURE on the hose. I guess PB's isn't loosing enough money on the stuff to care.

Ok I finally have a nice clear day here in NC to go do this install, but I still ca't figure out for the life of me which fitting is the "IN" and which is the "OUT", they are both on the bottom of the regulator, one is directly in the center and the other is off towards the edge from the first, I assume the center one is the "IN" but we all know what happens when you assume. really would like to clear this up quick so I can get this thing installed.

There are two ports, the one on the "side" of the regulator, and the one centered on the bottom.

The side one connects to the fuel rail where the stock FPR was, and the bottom one connects to the line that was going into the back of the stock FPR.

I just went outside and double checked to be sure.

[EDIT]
This is for a SARD. Which type of FPR do you have? I assume they are all the same...however, like you said...
[/EDIT]

I have the Stillen FPR, so it is probably a little different, I wish they could have just labeled the hole so I wouldn't have to worry about it.
