HELP! I think my kit has been put in wrong!

First off, I am car retarded and retarded in real life, so don’t remind me.

I got my NOS kit installed from a guy who was recommended by others at a local car shop. We went by his price since that he could use the shop while the boss was gone on vacation. He put in the kit, along with a toggle switch and upgraded Walboro 255 high flow fuel pump. I did this about 6 months ago and I have only gone through my 10 lb bottle once with a 70 shot in it.
This week, I got my gauges put in and the mechanic said that he is very sure that my nitrous kit had been installed wrong. He said that my car has 2 fuel pressure regulators and only one of the lines is tapped meaning that when I was spraying, I was running way lean and that is why it did not feel very strong (feels like VTEC kicking in).

The other thing that worries me is that with the setup, I have fuel pressure psi of 32-36 at idle. If this guy did install the kit wrong, is this the reason for the low psi? What I was thinking was that he did not even put in the upgraded fuel pump in the car considering that he did gripe about making a hole in the firewall, but did not say a thing about how the fuel pump was not a direct drop in and had to modified.
Here is the dumb part on my behalf. I forgot that I have a full tank of gas and I tried to look and see if he did put the pump in. I unbolted the whole thing when I realized that I had too much gas in there right now. Now though I can’t get the whole unit back where it was. It is a little cocked to the side and I can only put 1 screw in. Can I still drive like this?

Here are the questions….
1.Can I drive for a week with 1 bolt holding down the unit? Will it be a huge mess or too unsafe?
2.Is the mechanic right about the incorrect NOS install?
3.Is there 2 fuel pump regulators in our cars?
4.Is the install possibly the reason for the low psi?
Thanks

I just recently put the Walbro fuel pump in my car on my 5th gen maxima. It was a ***** putting the pump in. I had to cut off the plastic tabs and also take off the rubber thing on the bottom of the pump. There is a loud whinny noise coming from my fuel pump now. I strongly would not recommend running the car with only one bolt holding down the pump. Fuel might get all over your cabin and that will not be good. And not to mention the fumes.

Secondly, Maximas have 1 FPR, the other thing is a fuel "pulse dampner". Pulse Dampners help hold fuel supply steady and aid in "cold starts"-don't touch this.

You probably have a bad install. I did. My ignorant shop also thought I had 2 regulators and hooked my Zex kit up to the pressure line to the pulse dampner (on incoming side of fuel rail). Thus, I was running way lean, and only getting about 25HP from a 60 shot.

It appears you have the same crappy install. Take it back and make them fix it. The nitrous pressure line should run to the second regulator (on the return side of the line). *If they aren't sure which is which, they can pull off one of the fuel hoses and see which way the fuel is shooting when the ignition is turned.

My update

I got the fuel pump out once my roommate got home. It was really difficult getting to the fuel pump in my car. I opened it up and guess what? No Walbro fuel pump in there! This *** took my fuel pump and my $30 to put it in. He probably has it on his car right now.
As for the shop, I called them and asked for the guy's phone number and they wouldn't give me it (which I expected), so I left a phone number and a message of "You installed my nitrous kit wrong and you owe me a fuel pump+$30." The owner said, "So this was done on the side then, because I didn't get any money for it." I knew it was on the side but I played dumb by saying, "I don't know. I had it done at the shop but I thought there wasn't a receipt for a nitrous install."

My roommate got his phone number and I called him up and he was ****ed at me for ratting him out. I said "Hey ***, you stole my fuel pump and you put my kit on incorrectly! If I wanted it on wrong I would have done it myself for free!"
So he argued with me and said that he put the fuel pump in even though I am holding the giant stock fuel pump that has a Nissan symbol in my hand. I had to laugh when he kept asking me if I was saying that he was a liar. YEAH!

Does anyone have pics of where the kit should be put in or a discription? Probably a bad description, but it is in one of the lines on top of the engine. Ahh, never mind, we'll figure it out.
Can I get some pictures please or a good description?

Damm that sounds pretty ****ed up. If you have any questions about the fuel pump feel free to e-mail me. I already done it, it was a pain. Actually I think my kit was installed wrong too. Yesterday was my first run with the A/F guage and it says I was lean. When you figure out how to install it properly would you mind sending me some pics or instructions? Thanks!

I don't think that your kit was put on right. When I am at WOT, my A/F gauge is in the rich area. My mechanic told me that the A/F should be tapped in 2 areas. There is one in the engine area and another more towards the back. He told me to make sure that when I use nitrous, make sure that the A/F gauge always reads rich.

He is not a nissan guy but a honda and mitsubishi guy. He does know the basic functions of these kits/turbos/gauges/SC/nitrous and so on.
Use your FP gauge and EGT to get a better reading than the A/F. Better to be safe than sorry.

Cool thanks, I think maybe my ZEX kit was installed wrong and not my guage. Under normal driving conditions I am running rich but as soon as I hit the nitrous I'm lean. I don't really feel much kick either when I'm hittin the nitrous.

Shouldn't you be in the stoich area and then when you gas it, then it turns rich?

because of our crazy open and closed loop feature, your A/F guage will go to the RICH side above 4000 rpms. Once we go to that open loop setting, the car just mashes as much gas as it can in the pulse injector legth that it can.(So I'm told). Your A/F guage shouldn'd really rainbow around like they do on the honda and mitsu's, we have bad cars for these guages. If you want to check your A/F mixture above 4000 rpms, you can do 2 things.

1. Buy a broadband o2 sensor guage (HKS/Greddy) that will run around 300 bucks.
2. You can try to install an extra o2 sensor in your y pipe and hook it up to your guage.

Where did they tap the "intake" line for the zex kit? Thanks in advance!

A wideband O2 will probably run you more than 300 bucks, but at least they're accurate. I know the FJOs are overpriced, but they're around 700 I believe. Also I've seen a wideband on a Maxima and the A/F gets really rich at WOT. I was surprised how much fuel got dumped into the combustion chamber.
