Near disaster with S/C, now is fixed, but my belt is jumping off!
Well last night I got my supercharger on and after I got everything up and running I went for a little spin. I decided to drive back after about 5 minutes about half a block from my house my brake/battery light came on . I knew my belt jumped off. I pulled into my garage lifted the hood to see a shreded belt and oil all over everything. My oil drain back hose poped off and all the oil drained out everywhere. I guess i didnt have it too tight and I think there may have been a kink in the hose! So tonight I spent about 5-6 hours on my car. We cleaned everything with degreaser. removed s/c ran new belt. Got everything hooked up. Went for a ride. I noticed the belt squeel for about one second like it did the night before right when i was turning. I decided right then to get back home. I opened the hodd to see my belt worn on the side of the supercharger. Upon further inspection, the belt slipped of a rib on the alternator, and the pulley after that as well. I rerouted the belt , and I ran the car a little in the garage. It did the same thing. I tightened up a lot more. Same result. So it looks like the belt is rubbing on the front bracket immediately below the pulley. I did grind on it since im runnig a 3.12, but maybe I didnt take off enough??? Do you guys think this is why the belt is jumping off???

If it's still touching then shave, and doublecheck your pulley/belt alignment. Do you see the belt skip?
After this, you may end up speaking with our supercharger belt/pulley/bolt specialist, maxi-overdose I for one plan on paying him a visit bearing money and gifts should I ever have any belt issues

CASS98SE : Are there a lot of shavings coming off where the belt is touching the plate? Tell you what, my belt is touching the plate too and the previous owner didnt shave it down more because he's affraid that he will damage the structure of the plate. IMO, if there are not excessive belt shavings coming off, it should be fine.
if the belt is jumping off a rib on the alternator pulley, then that's a sign of bad alignment. You can tell by first comparing the section of the belt on the tensioner pulley to that on the idler pulley. They should be aligned. If not, you have to adjust the position of the SC pulley to make them all aligned. I have a thread in this forum and it will tell you what to do to align them. (should be on page 2 or 3 of this forum)
btw, when you adjusting the tension of the belt. Try not to loose the nut that holds the tensioner pulley all the way. make it a bit tighter and just enough to move the pulley up and down. loosen it too much may cause the pulley to be tilted.

It does sound like an alignment problem. There are no shavings from the belt. The belt doesnt seem to be wearing on the inside at all.

but....if you are running away from the engine..that means your SC pulley is too far away from the engine. If so, you dont want to add washers between the plate and the blower, you want to push the SC pulley towards the engine a little.

are you missing any bolts on the top corner or the bolt that goes right in front of the main pulley on top of the plate? if you are that is the reason why your belt is falling off. In my case that was the problem. If you have all the bolts then your going to need to shim the blower from the top half to align the belt to run back into the motor by mm's.

In my case, I accidentally put the alternator grounding bracket between the alternator and the blower bracket which gave me the same problem where the belt was jumping a rib away from the engine. I then put it on the outside of the blower bracket and my problem was solved. Did you do what I ddi by accidentally misplacing the grounding bracket?

by you making that one mistake everyone thinks SCers drop belts on their own seriously read the opinions that are posted. I am just laughing at it but is the truth, I am sure you dont have no problems neither dont have any belt problems what so ever.
