found this on ebay. stupid site huh??
what this is :
"Why spend thousands of dollars on a turbo system if you just want the awesome sound? This machined aluminum exhaust insert sits inside your exhaust pipe. The exhaust blowing through the device is expelled with great force through the small end, creating a turbo "spooling" sound. In some cases, during shifts, back-pressure is drawn through the device creating a "psssshhhhtttt" type sound (like a blow-off valve). A small CNC machined aluminum device which discreetly fits inside a vehicle's stock muffler pipe and on heavy acceleration emits a sound extremely similar to that of a turbocharged vehicle. Depressing the gas pedal in some instances have released a backpressure in the muffler making the car sound like it has a Blow Off Valve. It cannot be easily distinguished between an accelerating Turbo Eclipse or VW 1.8T turbocharged car! You will not be able to tell the difference nor will pedestrians or other drivers on the street. Let them ask you what is under your hood!
This is the same device used by big movie companies when they want a normally aspirated car to sound heavily turbo-charged (you really think they are going to spend all that extra time and money turbocharging every car on the set)?!
This whistler is a lot of fun, and if you get tired of it (or install a real turbo), just take it off (or leave it on for double the effect)! At this price...why not?"
please dont hate me for wasting space, but its funny..
blake

Tell them it's your secret race setup and they'll have to race you to find out. Then if they take you up on that challenge, make excuse after excuse to get out of the race. I've seen it done...
On a related note, I was at my friend's shop a few weeks back working on some stuff, and this guy came in and said to him "I heard you were the turbo expert" Apparently he had seen him at the races the night before. My friend specializes in turbo setup and tuning, he's got a 1000+whp Supra that runs 9.2's at 155 mph and a 350 whp SR20 swapped S14 that runs mid 12.8's at 122 mph. We all turned around figuring this guy wanted something crazy (most of the cars there are in the 4-700 whp range). Then he said "I want one of those whistling things that goes in the exhaust so it sounds like a turbo". Everyone there just looked on in shock until he left.
