Noticed something odd on the MAF

After replacing the fuel filter I noticed that one corner of the lid of the square part of the MAF had lifted. I pushed the corner back in with a flathead screwdriver and followed that by cranking the engine and reving it until the Bov sounded. I turned off the engine and reinspected the MAF to find that the corner has popped open again. I then took a couple of plastic ties and wrapped it around the MAF so that the lid corner won't lift up again.

Do I need a new MAF or can I get by with this fix? I think that air will still leak out and I'll still lose boost.

If you boost and watch that plastic lid on the MAF... it will balloon out from the boost... reseal it. So far, with my 3.12" pulley, mine hasn't broken the factory seal yet.

I've seen the cover flex in and out when revving the engine, but none of my mafs have ever popped a corner out. I used to have the cover of my A32 maf restrained with some large hose clamps, but the Z32 maf doesn't flex as much, so I'm not doing that anymore.

If you reseal with some silicone (if you are indeed leaking boost) and keep the cable ties on I think you'll be okay.

I used 2 zipties to hold the corner down and I guess I should do the same on the other side. It looks so ghetto at the moment.
I lifted up the rubber seal before shoving the corner back in to keep the seal but I'll follow it up with some extra silicone and see what happens.
Thanks guys!
