overdrive pulley

Vortech claims thet you can push something like 20psi out of a v2...correct? but it seem to me that no matter how small the pulley size on the S/C is the most people are getting is like 10 or 12 tops. did anyone ever think of getting a bigger crank pulley to spin that sucker faster? custom made or maybe a diffrent pulley off another nissan? i mean if the S/C can make it and the engine can hold it why not?

getting a bigger crank pulley wouldn't accomplish anything more than downsizing the sc pulley would. BTW, guys that have pulleys already that are below 3 inches have been overspinning the blower. If it is indeed possible to get 20 psi out of the v2, you'd be way beyond the rpm limit that vortech claims for the v2.

how much boost does vortech claim you can get out of a V2? if it is like 20psi and you are overspinning the S/C at 10-12 then vortech is full of ****e. i cant imagine that you S/C guys are losing 8psi between the S/C and the throttle body.

Well, with the bends and the heat some boost is lost. The most that I know of with a sc is 14psi with a v1. 2.62 pulley

I have been mystified by this for years now.

I don't understand how Vortech comes up with their numbers. If you look at the compressor map on their website, supposedly the S trim blowers make 20 psi spinning at their max rated speeds (~50 krpm), and not by overspeeding. And that is with the blower delivering air, too, so it's not a dead-headed pressure measurement. But I don't think anyone has come close to getting that sort of pressure, even from overspeeding, and it's hard to believe that you get 7 psi of pressure drop through the short length of intake piping in the Stillen kit.

I know a guy that gets 15PSI on his Stang on a V1 SQ. Vortech gives a nice cushion for reliability in there recommended max. It may be overspinning but for short bits it ain't gonna do anything drastic.

i think that is just a gimmick to make you buy their s/c. it would be awsome if you could get at least 17-20 psi. lord knows the vq can hold it. then you could intercool it, get about 15psi-17psi and not have to worry about detonation if you have the right fuel mods. i mean the S/C is still a great buy but if you really want to boost alot i guess you got to go w/ a custom turbo setup.

has anyone overspun the supercharger? has anyone blown one up yet? really you are only gonna overspin it when your hammerin' on it. how many times does your car really see 6500? if its not to often then it probaly cant be that bad for the S/C.i just think that it would be cool if someone did push 18-20 psi just to see if they could. which brings me to my first question...has anyone ever tried a bigger crank pulley?

The install is just the same as the regular install. IIRC the only difference is the compressor wheel. Maybe the gearing is different but I don't think so? If your asking how hard the install on the wheel is, I would leave that to Vortech. Its just one simple bolt but my guess is they won't tell you the required torque and balance may become an issue. Anyone know if they balance them after being assembled?
