BOV after MAF without recirc?

I'm sorry if this bugs you all but a question like this will never get answered in the "Other Cars" Forum. I'll get to drive a Saab for the next four months. It has a bypass valve about two feet upstream of the TB. It has a recirc in after the maf but before the turbo.

I disconnected the bypass valve to see if I could get it to blow off. Sure enough, it chirps really nice. After clamping off the recirc line I started the car. Everything was fine. It idled fine and blew off like no other in every gear including nuetral. But after the car got warm it would not idle without assistance. I assume it ran fine on cold start due to high idle and therefore not releasing metered air. I know some of you in here have other cars that were turbo'ed stock and have done BOV's for. Or maybe you know from reading about it.

How do I get it to run with the MAF on the intake side and without a recirc? There is a way; right? Or does every single turbo car have the MAF after the BOV/Bypass? Or is this all because its only a bypass valve and not a BOV? Do aftermarket BOV's release boost at idle? Thanks in advance.

The BOV on my DSM leaks a very small amount at idle, but I have it in blow-through setup now. Car ran like A$$ when it was suck through w/o the recirc. line so I just put it back on, it wasn't worth the cool sound to me.

Good to know despite not being a solution. So do all these people with BOV's sufer through bad fuel economy and a hunting idle? I think the ECU might be learning to cope. It will now idle on its own when warm although still hunting. Normally, I'm the type that says ECU's don't learn but this one appears to be doing just that. Oh, and in the days travels since resetting the MPG with it like this I got 11.8MPG.

Okay, after two days of helping it at idle I hooked it back up. Threw a code which I haven't read yet but its probably something to do with MAF or o2 voltages. I just couldn't stand the 8.8MPG gallon that I got for the past 60 miles. Before hooking it back up I did some out of gear testing in the driveway. I'd just like to say that I was amazed at how much air comes out of there. D@mn. By mistake my face was right next to the nozzle when my buddy reved it up. It nearly blew my eyeball through the back of my skull. At anything but WOT it releases some amounts of air anywhere in the rev band. Do you guys think an aftermarket BOV would solve this issue with its adjustment screw? Like just set it to the hardest it will go and leave it? I plan on getting the Vortech Race within the next month.

But I'll be driving it consistantly until mid summer. Whats the harm in trying? I'm getting a BOV anyway so why not spend an hour making an attachment for it? Its totally reversable.

I am getting the Max in gear. Yesterday I: Assembled suspension, removed the b-pipe and rear section, made plate and drilled through lower rad support, towed it to school. Today I've: Welded and riveted the lower rad support back together. Its strong as hel!. Saturday is engine day.
