Definitely would be if it were turbocharged, but with the SC making low boost at low-mid rpm, making it rich doesn't help much.

Really deep.

Gets kinda annoying cruising on the freeway.....deep constant bass note.

But sounds sweet at idle.

I would love the 3" exhaust but ia am a punany and like my quiet ride. Even with the headers it isn't even loud(from the very limited amount of time i have gotten my car to run) but from what i can tell it just deepened the exhaust note a bit, but nowhere close the the deepness of a V8. I like good sounding loud exhaust and all, but come on this a maxima and should be somewhat quiet

If you can maintain exhaust gas velocity with the right size pipe for the engine size, then the less restrictive the exhaust the better. I don't have the dyno from open vs. closed cutout (only with SAFC2 tuned), but I can make one on excel.

Check my cardomain page 2 for the N/A cutout differences in hp and tq.

They have 2.5 inch headers to the 3inch cat/exhaust.

Maybe yours being 2.5 that helps more. Thanks for clearing it up

Ian, I did not need a boosted dyno you attention *****.. JK

Next time I come to Atlanta, I need to take you for a ride. With the cutout open it is the loudest thing I have ever heard. The headers give it a very distinctive tone. Arthur at dynolab was impressed, he said it sounded like a F1 car at WOT.

Mine does too now up to 5K. After that it gets raspy. Anybody know of a really short 3" ID muffler? Magnaflow has the race series but those are 3.5". I need 6-10" of mufflage. Or maybe a really short resonator but what does a resonator sound like after the muffler?

I have full 3" from the y pipe back into a 3" ID Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. No rasp at all, sounds nothing like a Mustang more like a high HP Supra.

I would keep the cutout, it will make more power when needed, and you get to keep the quiet for every day driving. Now if its not an electric or boost controlled cutout I might consider changing it.

What is the shortest they make?

At this point I think it sounds a lot louder than it is due to pointing up into the seat area. I'm gonna PM DanNY about a 3" mandrel 90.

go to summitracing.com type in dynomax bullet under search.
they make a 3 inch in/out that is only 12 inches long (16.50 overall) and only 4 inches around. Only $35, and they work pretty well, I know a few other that have them. They also make a 3 inch that is 18 inches long (23.50 overall).

Thanks 96sleeper. I took a close look at it today. Busted out the yard stick. I have exactly 15 inches from the end of the current muffler to the gas tank. I could make it so the 2.75" on each end overlap each other but its still going to be really tight once the bend is in there. I also want to try to keep the bend as far away from the tank as possible. Hmm... Any other shorter mufflers? If only magnaflow made the race series in 3" ID. Argg... I can have up to six inch case diameter cause that is what the big Magnaflow is. I hind sight I wish I would've gotten two 18 inchers.
