Wrapped car out to 9k+RPM
Last summer, I did a stupid downshift from high in 3rd Gear to 2nd gear on accident!! (Meant to shift to 4th, missed)
That was quite a while ago and the car still feels fine. Everything I've read tells me that the engine should have popped right then and there, leaving me by the side of the road.
Anyone else done something dumb like this and lived to tell about it?
Is there anything I should be looking at mechanically just to make sure there isn't some unknown damage? (besides compression test, which is fine)
Thanks!

Ha ha, yeah, if its still fine now, your probably good. Did you record the highest RPM on your SAFC? Tachometer would be horribly inaccurate at that level. I accidently ran my old integra up that high, and never had a problem. Heard a lot of stories though. M3's are especially susceptible to this, and there ECU records it all, making warranty claims useless.

I did it 3 times in my 96. Twice when I first got it, and once like two years ago. No ill effects whatsoever. Ran faster and faster until the day I started de-modding it. If your car didn't pop right away, it didn't do any damage. Also was in BriGuyMax's 97 when he did it. No damage.

I did that boosted running the 3.33 pulley. Yea it recorded 9800 rpms on the DEFI link and I bent a couple exhaust valves. Had 5 compression in one cylider and 55 in another. You are lucky.....

something similar happened to my in my 3rd gen. i was passing someone and shifted from 3rd to 4th pretty hard. the clutch slipped real bad and i saw the tach run up to 7,000+ rpm, which was recorded by the s-afc. happened to me another time and i saw the tach read 8,000+ rpm but the s-afc said only high 7,000 rpm. was still pretty scary but luckily nothing happened.

yeah, i did about the same in my car too. I was going about 50 or 55 in second and shifted into first instead of third when i first got my car. the tach read about 8000 when i did that. It scared the **** outta me but i poped the hood just to listen and it didnt even seem to faze it. Shes a pretty rugged engine.

I did the 3 to 2 once by accident when I first started driving stick, shot to about 7000 on the tach and no ill effects came about. To avoid the 3 to 2 when I want to goto 4th I throw the shift down and towards the front passenger's seat. The car can't go into reverse when going forward (well not without that awful grinding) and it saves you from going into 2nd. Ever since I adopted this method Ive never screwed up the 3 ~ 4 shift.
