It's amazing the high horse that some of you guys get on....at local meets the FI guys just sit around revving their engines so people can hear their BOVs. That's rice, IMO.

As for me, I could afford to go FI, but choose not to at this time because of autocross/road racing classing limits. Sure, I'd love to have FI....but it's not the right time. Also don't assume that people who don't have FI or internal work done are somehow deficient in automotive work. I've rebuilt several classic sportscars myself (including internals), but again, choose not to do that to my maxima (at least not yet)

I lurk in the FI forums and all motor forums occasionally and am always amazed what a little clique it is.....the technical discussion is very good but there's often an undertone of disdain for those who have the "more pedestrian" mods (ypipe or exhaust or whatever)....

bottom line: there are plenty of ricers out there who have added FI to their cars, and plenty NA cars that are not ricers at all......

To those of you who continue to come up with great new ideas (Mardi, Matty, others) . To the others who just go FI for bragging rights...whatever. But making generalizations about people simply because they aren't "hardcore" performance junkies is just lame.....

sorry for the , but couldn't help myself.
His post was about the guys that post 90,000 threads about which HID color looks best and or which % tint to get or which dash kit to get. Those guys are the ricers. Where in his post do you see it said that anyone who isn't FI is a ricer? If you EVER see me revving my engine other than to launch at the drag strip you have my permission here and now to put a fcking bullet in my head. You are reading way too much into his post.

I fixed your post for you
I'm not going to argue the point, though - I don't want to ***** up this thread with off-topic discussion.

Most guys here ARE ricers. In fact I see more disdain from guys who are into looks and think it's pointless to mod a family sedan to be fast. Live and let live.

My post had the same point as his, except that I estimate even fewer people are into performance over looks on this board than he estimated. Anything beyond that is reading too much into it.

many people think that because many people think that 'performance' = horsepower and nothing else. There are plenty of people here who do other types of performance modifications (including frame bracing and suspension for handling, not "looks") that aren't obsessed with 1/4 mile times.

I'm not denying there's plenty of ricers here, but I think it's overblown. Am I a ricer because I have yellow fog lights and smoked side markers?

sorry if you misunderstood what i said. i never said anything about people who arent fi are ricers. i just mentioned im doing my own turbo setup. and its not for bragging rights. i just like getting left in the dust when me and my buddies go on roadtrips.

dont know about you, but everytime i go into the 4thgen form, its cluttered with several post about the same topics over and over. its hard to get a technical question answered in there. all you see are post about lights, taillights, wheels, and so on.

haha if you ever see me revving at a car meet please let me know. and you wont hear my bov cause its made to recirculate.

nothing against you dude. your car you do whatever you like, but most people will say putting side markers on a car that didnt originally come with them to be a ricer mod. i admit i used to do that back in the 90's.

I have a 5th gen...my car did come with them I think you're thinking of the middle-side markers. On the 5th gens we don't have the wraparound corner lights, we have front and rear side markers..I didn't add them, I just smoked them because they look silly orange (yes, a cosmetic mod, I admit).

you can see it on the left of this pic

Why do you keep harping on this point when I'm agreeing with you? I put this question to you again and I'll put it in bold letters so you can't miss it - WHERE DOES HE OR ANYONE ELSE SAY THAT UNLESS YOU ARE FI YOU ARE A RICER?

I'm not sure if you are directing the comment about FI and 1/4 mile racing directly at me or not? Is it directed primarily at me? It's no secret that I'm FI and very into 1/4 mile racing so it would make sense, but it's hard to read intonation on these forums.

agree with you there....you guys are lucky to have the FI and all motor forums. Those of us who want to talk about "advanced suspension" have no place to do it without people jumping in and asking "is it an even drop".....

I'm not trying to start anything here, I just got the wrong impression from the initial post (and perhaps the title of the thread)....apologies - wasn't trying to suggest anything about YOU personally, just a general observation about maximas....with the locals, it seems that higher dyno numbers = bigger ego sometimes

PMs sent....don't want to hijack this thread any more!

I've made numerous suggestions to Sprint to have a new forum scheme set up, eliminating all the generation specific forums because they are generally pretty much the same and just combining them into one single forum, and having technical only forums for suspension, transmission, etc. added but sprint and the admins do not feel this is a worthwhile change.

Lets not get too involved with class warfare on the form!
Everyone has a right to their opinion, that's why we have the stock market and gambling.
Let's face it, we have a very expensive hobby and like society in general some have more than others. When push comes to shove it's always about someone having to feel better by putting another down.
Lets concentrate on our beloved cars and maybe have a few forms for the people into looks and sound and other forms strictly for go fast mods and racing. Of course there can be no cross posting or the violators get one free pass and they're gone
I happen to be in the performance group, if it doesn't add speed or handling I'm not interested But, I'm just as guily as anyone when I see a honda or toyota etc. coming down the street with a loud fart can, rediculous wing and unpainted damaged body parts hanging off their cars. Ricer, moron, whatever comes to mind but I always catch myself and realize maybe the guy loves his car like it is, maybe he can't afford to mod his car, or maybe he's just doesn't care or know better! Whatever!

mjk, how do you like those Kosei rims? I bought the same Kosei K1 TS's, 17"x7", silver about 2 months ago. Unfortunately they are just sitting there in my dining room. I paid $200 each from TireRack. TireRack had them listed at 14.1lb but when I put them on a very accurate scale, I got 13.7lb.

well I like how they look and how they are manufectured ( I looked it up and stuff).. The tires i put on em were a bit too big and ended up rubbin a litttle so my performance dropped somewhat, now I have to clean my TB and this spring put different DR tires on the wheels. so far I like em, good price for tough and light rims. They can be seen in the pic above, they're 17x8, supposed to be 15.5lb =]
