Blower install...

Ok, my blower kit should be arriving in the next week. I wanted to ask what can be installed a head of time, without doing it all at once? plugs for sure...

thanks,

just an FYI on a helpful tool you can get that will save you time/frustration on those two allen bolts that attach the bracket on timing case near the tensioner

(you'll need to the find the right size bit though of course)

we got a full set at our shop from Cornwell, but I think Sears has it for like $6...reversable ratcheting screwdriver I think its called. after the 3 or so blowers I've put on, I'd never do an install without it.

Wait a sec....I just did a comparision of matty's V1 plate and my V2 plate.
On the V2 plate that flathead allen bolt is located on the idler pulley support (the piece of metal at the bottom that looks like Florida) and next to the idler pulley

Now, looking at matty's V1 plate that long piece doesn't exist but it looks to me that the flathead allen bolt is not used at all? If that's the case I won't miss putting that bolt back on!

Wait Wait Wait !!
There are NO tricky Allen key bolts that need to be gotten with my V1 Plate Kit !!! The stand off plate does NOT exist with my Plate Kit !!! If you are installing my Kit, you will not need that rachet. Nothing special is need to install.

I hope I cleared it up

thanks,

That depends on what parts you currently have and what parts are coming in your "blower kit". It depends if it is a V1 or a V2. And it depends if you are trying to keep your car drivable. Depending on the above variables, you can re-route your PS lines, you can remove your stock intake, remove/relocate your overflow reservoir, remove the drive belt and stock pulley adjuster assembly (if V2) - pay very special attention to the order of parts as you remove them, shave the radiator, remove the side (front) engine cover (where the "J" plate will go) and scrape off all the old adhesive, relocate horn, unbolt the fuse box, drain oil, relocate your drop resister (if auto), locate the wire where you will be "T"ing the yellow wire, etc., etc.

Good luck.

You're going to need more than 2 days to put it in, especially if you're doing it by yourself. Go slow and do it right the first time.

I'm going to try to do it on the 3 day labor day weekend. That's if all the parts come on time...
A friend will be helping me put it in.

Question:
Will I need to raise the car without the wheels, thus creating big gaps between the tire and the wheel well. Or is it ok if I drive it on top of that thing that raised the car by a couple feet?

thanks

It's been a while since I installed mine, but as far as I know, you can install it with the car on ramps, but you will be making your job that much harder. I recommend removing the wheel and make getting under the car/access to the pulleys etc etc easy.

Every time I have to work on the SC I put the passenger side of the car on jacks and take off the wheel.

Thanks for the pic VIP_Maxima! I couldn't remember how high the car was with the stock springs.
