Falken Ziex ZE-512

What do you guys think of these? Are these decent tires? How do they handle in rain/snow? Edgeracing.com lists them for $89 a piece, and they look like the best bang for the buck. They were also voted #1 by some consumer magazine.

Please don't tell me that Michelins Pilot Sport A/S are better. They may very well be, but to me that doesn't justfy the $200 sticker price.

I hear their really good but at $89 you still have to get them mounted and ballanced. Its easier to go to discount get the tires, mount, and warrenty IMO.

I got mine installed yesterday and so far am very happy I picked this model of tire. Total price installed was $478. I bought mine for $95/each from www.edgeracing.com and had Tire Kingdom install them. I have only done about 20 miles on them so far, but the ride seems a bit quieter and we have rain in the forcast for tonight, so I'll get to see how their wet traction is as well. I would say that the editors at Consumer Reports know what they're talking about here.

they do great in snow !!! - i'm in Chicago and it snows like crazy here - my ABS hardly ever kicks in , with my Kumho Hp716 all season tires ABS in light snow was constantly kickin' in

on the side note though - there have been some issues with Falkens beeing out of round and mine are the prime example - had them mounted and ballanced using the standard ballancer and my steering wheel was shaking like crazy
had them rebalanced using " road force " machine and things are much better now - but the tech told me that those tires are not perfectly round.

some time next week i will take them to local tire shop that sells Falken tires - so they can be checked and maybe repalced under Falken's warranty , BTW i bought those from www.edgeracing.com and thats what they recomended for solving warranty issues.

Nick.

I have HTR+ now, and although they've performed OK for me, and are pretty quiet and long-lasting, I am not getting them again. Last week I discovered 2 buldges on the sidewalls of the front tires... so it makes me question the quality of Sumitomo. Of course, it could've been a large pothole I hit, but I just don't remember driving over something so bad that would cause the front tires to be ruined.

I am trying the Falkens this time around... about the same price as the HTR+, but they were also voted #1 by Consumer reports... and the tread looks a little better. That was my logic... I could be wrong though.

I have seen nothing but excellent results from the Falken Ziex. My brother had them on his GTI VW, and they were awesome in wet/dry applications. Pulled hard, and were sticky as can be. The only thing they don't do really well in is standing water, but I don't really know of a tire that does.
