New Tires on 2003 GLE

Hi!

Im looking for a little advise.

I hate the stock tires on my 03 GLE (215/55/17's) (Bridgestone Turanza EL42). They really blow, and frankly need to be replaced at 25k.

Here's the problem: I've only found two tires in this size, again, the Turanzas, and the Goodyears.

If I want to change the size to open up product range, what can I do?

Can I go to a 225/50/17, or should it be 235/50/17? Or can I even do a 215/50/17?

Any comments/suggestions are welcome! derek80@comcast.net

Thanks!

Without getting into all the details supporting my decison (it's in the .org Archive)... I replaced the EL42s on my 02' with A/S's, 225/50's on OEM rims. OEM spec'd load rating, diameter and other factors were considered to the nth degree. You have many options if you consider driving style, expectations, etc. then select a tire and run the numbers before you decide.
