I just got a set of 18x8 Mille Miglia EVO5s, how wide of tires should I get for my 2000 SE?

255 has a high chance of rub. 245 has a chance. 235 won't. Now, 235/40 is out of spec a little. While the other two (especially 245) are close to spec. There's a number of people who run 245/40 without problems. So that's my vote.

The difference between 215/225/235 is that is the width of the tire not sure in which measure inches or metric for instance 225/40/18 the 225 is the width of the tire, the 40 is the heigth of the tire and 18 is the radius, to explain height easier it basically from the lip of your rim to the top of the tire, if anyone else can explain this better please do.

I ran 245/40-18 on the same wheels and the same car with no rubbing whatsoever. The car was dropped, but not slammed (Maxspeeds). The biggest problem with the Mille Miglia wheels is how soft they are. I trashed 2 on one pothole, a third two days later. I chucked the damn things and replaced them with SSR's.

The only thing you will notice with the 245's over the stock tires is that the car will tend to follow road imperfections, and torque steer tends to be exaggerated some. Other than that, no problems at all.

245/40r18

245 = width in millimetres
40 = 40% of the width (which is the height of the tire from the rim to the outside edge)
18 = size of rim/wheel

235/40/18's for me. I don't see the point in going larger. BTW 255's look ugly on an 8" wheel.

I have the 18" G35C rims with the stock tires (245/45 rear and 225/45 front) I would like to go with 245/40 all around but the rims have a 30 mm offset. I believe that size would be too wide for the front. Is this correct or not?

I used to run 235s on my 18x8 Falken Torque 5 wheels. I think my current tire (245) is closer to stock circumfrence.

in my opinion 245-40-18 will look nice once you go 245-45-18 thats when it looks out proportion to me....

Whats your offset. A lower offset may help you run wider tires.

235 width on an 8" wide rim. This belongs in the Wheels/Tires forum anyways, where this question has been answered countless times...

Just curious, not being wise here, but how can 235's be out of spec when that is the recommended size for 18" rims on our cars?

Sorry, let me correct myself. I guess this thread began in the 5th gen room and got moved here looking at the cars you guys are referring to. 235's would be on target for my 4th gen. I guess there are slightly different specs for the 5th gens.

Majority rules.

Looks like I'm going to end up getting a set of Falken Ziex 512 245/40/18s, best of both worlds. I pondered about getting the 255s but decided I should stick with the 245s. Thanks for all your votes.

You can't link the picture directly from your computer. You have to upload the picture first. I want to see it.

Not so. Go find a calculator and check the difference from spec.
