^ Looks very good, but what is the difference between the 1st and 2nd pic besides the car on the street being gone.

18" G35 wheels with curb rash

Going to buy a set of 18" G35 Coupe wheels today.
They are the OEM wheels. How hard is it to remedy CURB RASH on these wheels?

I have seen Wheel GUYZ work their magic with various Stones.
Are these wheels easy to remedy light curb rash?

Ok so i found a pair of 18" g35 wheels...

the fronts: 225/45/18
the rears: 245/45/18

So will these tire sizes be ok on my 99 max? I dont think ill have any rubbing issues, my car is as high as it can get.

Would i need to buy 235/40/18 for both the front and rears?

I seriously dont want to lower my car at this point, would it look weird with the tire size that comes with the rims or would it look better with the 235/40/18?

I had some light curb rash on mine, I just sanded it with a dremel and painted it using my Sterling Mist touch up paint. It matches almost perfect.

245/45/18 is pretty big. I am running 235/40/18, almost same diameter as stock. Just a little wider. I get no rub.

your car looks good with those rims. Obviously lowering it will make it look hotter, but that doesnt look bad at all.

So with the bigger tire size, overall the car will just look bigger and more of a 4x4?

hey lumber, what kind of springs are you using for your maxima. Those 35 rims look hot man. I like the way how theere is not much gap in between.

Please assist me with lowering my car, i've got the g35 replicas from ebay and they look great.

Those rims really look hot with the sterling mist!! That is definently my next favorite color next to black of course. I think the clear sidemarkers would really look good also.

5th gens get rubbing with the 245/45/18 in the rear....so your 4th gen will to.

Go 235/40/18 all-around, FTW.

Curb Rash on G35 coupe wheel

Thanks,
I will try the dremel tool. I bought all four G35 coupe (7 spoke) for $225!
One wheel has some bad curb rash. The guy with the coupe said he wanted
perfect "looking" wheels. He bought the EBAY G35 Knock offs for God knows how much? He then had to buy spacers to clear the Brembo calipers.
So bad for him, good for me.That's $225 for all four($56.25 each).
So I am going to try and light sand the wheels? Then paint them.
I thought about "sandblasting" and then powder coating.I could probably buy
the 19'" G35 wheels or some VOLKS/RAYS for what the machine shop would charge for all that work?

Anyone got any ideas besides a dremel to smooth out the curb rash?
thanks,
Bob

Ebay 18 G35 replicas

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-8-...QcmdZViewItemI know several have "not recommended" these wheels on ebay. However, they state that they are 8" wide and "to manufacturer's specifications".

I had previously seen that they were 7.5" and had yellow hubs.

Have they been improved/changed - ie. now might be ok?

Has anyone weighed/measured one recently to see if they match oem?

Seriously considering buying these to avoid hastle of buying used from an unknown individual - etc.

Thanks

Hey guys,

Just picekd up a set of G35 Rims 18x8.

Two Questions:

1) Which tire size would you recommned for these wheels for an 01 20th anniversary on stock suspension (no plans on dropping it soon). Want to make sure I get a good size to hide some of that gap if im planning on not getting it dropped.

2) Which lug nuts should I use? Ones that came with the G35 rims or my stock 17" lugs?

Your help is appreciated. Sooner I get an answre the sooner they come on

According to the tire calculator sticky, 245/40/18 is the closest to stock diameter, so that size would be ideal unless rubbing would be a problem.

I would use the lugs that came with the G rims.

235/40-18 is the size you want to use, 25.4" dia. Stock Max size is 225/50-17 right? That would be 25.8", close enough.

If you go 245, you might get some rubbing initially when turning the front wheels. Plus I dont think 245/40-18 is a very common size.

I used the lugnuts that came with my Maxima, which originally had 16" wheels.

I would bet it would. When I went from my stock 215/55-16 to 235/45-17, I got some rubbing when turning for a couple days. It must have pushed the wheel well liners in or worn them in because it stopped after that.

When I went to 235/40-18, it was the same width I was running with 17's and I did not get any rubbing then.

Anybody got pics of the 18" 7 spokes on a max powder coated black?? I'm getting some next week and I'm thinking about getting them powder coated before I put them on, but I'd like to see some first.

They fit... Front ones will stick out a bit... but I got mine on there... and they stuck on there... The rear ones youll have to pound in the cap on the center of the wheel hub to get them to go in.

Or just get spacers for the front and rear. That'll also work.

FYI: I used the stock G35 tire size, 245/45/18 and it rubbed like crazy in the rear with any weight in the car besides me. 225/45/18 works w/o rubbing, while 235/40/18 is the ideal size.

sooner02r1: Check out this thread for someone that was selling G wheels he'd had powercoated not too long ago...

I hope this question hasn't already been answered. I have read most of this thread and did not see an answer. Do the 245/45s that come stock on the rear of these rims rub on the inside of the tire?? If so if you ran a small wheel spacer, would that work?

no, that size rubs on the OUTSIDE of the tire..because of the 30 offset (compared to 40-45 stock) there is plenty of room on the inside....

both will fit fine. I actually bought new, longer shank lug nuts to make them easier to get on and off compared to teh "acorns"

Here's another question for someone more knowledgeable than me. I love rims that look staggered. If I run 235/40s in the back on the 18" G coupes on my lowered 5.5, can I run a small spacer on there without rubbing? If so, could do you think I could have the fenders rolled and fix it? I love the look of beefy rears sitting right out under the fender.

Which wheel combo is best for 03 maxima's

I am looking at two sets of G35 wheels and cant decide which will be best for my ride. One is the 19" and the other is the 18" G35 wheels. Can you guys please help me with this decision. I'm riding on stock springs. I dont want to drop my car since i do alot of highway traveling. I dont know how bad the 19's rub compared to the 18's. Is it a huge difference? Thanks for any help. you can email me at arick.house@gmail.com. Thanks

Got my 18" G coupes on my car today. Stock size tires, Maxspeeds, and no rubbing yet, however I think it will look better with smaller tires in the rear. I'll post up pics in a day or two when I get it all cleaned up.

Thanks Greeneyes. That's the answer I was looking for. Good thing I have 4 5mm spacer plates that I couldn't sell. I'm going to use those to bring the wheel out a little so I won't have to do any pounding.

Ok, off to search the forum regarding 5mm spacers w/o using extended lugs. I remember reading about this a bit, but now that I'm going to do it, just need to refresh my memory.

Happy ridin' dirty.

er...as long as you get the correct profile/size tire, the 19s won't rub any more or less than the 18s......

If you're not dropping it though, go with the 18s. Bigger-diameter rims accentuate the wheel gap...

uh, no....they didn't qualify as "photogenic" haha....

just go to an auto parts store and look at the lug nuts there. You need 6x1.25 size (IIRC, but double-check). you will see three types:

1. short little open-ended ones
2. short little acorn-looking ones
3. longer ones

get the longer ones
