I have 350Z 18s and the Potenzas suck aszz in the midwestern snow. I need to find some good all season or snow tires for the front. What is the best snow tire and what is the best all-season tire?? Blizzaks? How about Toyos? Thanks in advance.

BFG Traction

I'm happy with my BF Goodrich Traction T/A H tires, and they are the second-highest rated all-season high performance at tirerack.com. Not enough for deep snow or serious ice (as I learned during this week's snowstorm when they didn't have the alley to my garage plowed), but good all-season and good price.

Ditch the 18" rims for winter. I run 15" steelies myself with Arctic Alpins (Blizzak's before that). Yesterday's 10" blizzard here wasn't even a challenge. You can get a whole snow tire & wheel package for abut $500 and outdrive most 4x4's around.

I'd also be interested in hearing what people use... I need the absolute best snow tires possible... for snow and ice... especially on hills as it were...

When I'm at school (Bethlehem, PA), they seem to not plow the city streets.

I've heard the blizzaks are more all around good tires less than just pure snow tires.

Don't really believe in the whole winter wheel swap thing though. Just need an all-around tire and leave it alone. They plow the streets pretty good around here.

Just a suggestion... Nokian Hakka2, RSi or the All Season WR's.

Dunlop Wintersport

Great tires, inexpensive, and the Max handles like a charm.

Nokian Haakapeliita RSI's on the Max and Haakapeliita Q's on the Subie. I also have relatives in Finland that use them. They're amazing and I love driving my car in the snow! We had Blizzaks on our 98 GLE and the traction was pretty poor...I didn't notice any benefit personally.

On my maxima I've driven Dunlop Graspic DS-2s and Yokohama something-or-others and like the Dunlops a little better. I also like the Blizzaks on my sisters car, the Pilot Alpines on my buddy's car, etc. Pretty much all winter tires rule, and the difference between all season and winter tires in the snow is marked, day and night.

Pzero Nero M+S.

Havent gotten stuck once. Not bad for a 235/45/17 tire. These bad boys have seen -15 temps and still grip like none other.

For pure snow performance the Blizzak ws-50's are probably the best. They are generally considered the best as well as the pioneer for the snow/ice tire. Check tirerack to verify. They are relatively expensive as far as snow/ice tires go, though they are cheaper than most high performance snow tires. They will kill performance on a car like the Maxima. Also, use them only in the snow if possible as they will wear very quickly in dry conditions. I'd recommend the Dunlop wintersport m3's or the bridgestone blizzak lm-22's unless you're in a real snow zone.
