A month past due

I have been putting this off for way too long. I need to get all new tires for my 01-SE-48K. What should I know when I go into the tire place, other than tire size and having them balanced?

I could use some advice on the service I received from Pepboys.

It was either the Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires from Sears or the Kumho tires from Pepboys. I decided to go with the Kumho ASX 225/50ZR17 94W tires because they were buy 3 get the 4th free (mail in rebate). I also had an alignment done to my car.

Current Problem:

1. Pepboys scratched all four rims by the air stem.
2. My steering wheel now sits tilted to the right.
3. While driving, my car drifts to the right after release the steering wheel.
4. The steering wheel shakes when I get up to high speeds.
5. At times my steering wheel feels as though if it is shifting back and forth while I'm driving straight.

Any suggestions on what I should do now?

Take it back, doesn't sound like your wheels are properly balanced. As for the alignment...Make sure all 4 wheels are flush against the rotor and the lugnuts are torqued down tight.

You went to pepboys to get your tires replaced? I bet Sears was gonna charge you more than pepboys. I say you get what you paid for.

As to your problems:
1. Sue them?
2. You can ask them to adjust the steering wheel. It's not that hard.
3. Tell them to make sure your tires are properly inflated.
4. Sounds like a poor balancing issue.
5. Because it's not balanced, your steering wheel shakes/vibrates....... see #4.

As said before...take it back. They should be FULLY responsible to ensure proper balancing/alignment is taken care of since you paid for the service.

There shouldn't be any discussion. They fix it, or you sue. Though I'm willing to be they'll fix it right away without you having to threaten a lawyer.

Thanks guys... After getting the run around I was able to place claim with Pepboys. I went in there around 9am this morning and didn’t get the claim number until 5pm this afternoon. I really didn’t have them time wait around for 3 hours (that’s about how long it took them to do work the last 2 times I was in there) to have them fix the balance/alignment so I just mentioned it to them.

I'm not sure when I’ll have time to go back in the have them readjust my balancing/alignment because I got some other stuff going on (which was originally why I took off of work today). I woke up this morning and my jar was swollen. I thought it was from my braces but it might be something else. But anyway that's another story for another time.
