96 Auto GXE 1/4 mile

Took my 96 Automagic Gxe out on track today....weather was around 45-50 degrees...... my beast 1/4 mile pass was 15.3651 secs.... i did pull the spare tire, jack, and all the seats out except for the driver's..... got that ebay CAI (PR LOOKALIKE), y-pipe, hi flow cat, and pacesetter catback....w/ UDP.... had about 7 gallons of 87 unleaded in the tank....ran on 20th aniv 17"s with 225/55s in the back and 225/45s in the front had my coilovers set to stiff also.....made 3 passes but this was the best one....

it was kind of cold and front tires were at 35 psi.... made all my passes of with O/D off....had my cousin runnin 14.7-14.8s with his 04 6spd with CAI and 93 octane.....thats not even close to what i expected from my car...i thought it was a easy 14 sec car but i guess not, or what do you guyz think...i still have the 15" sawblade rims.... should i use those with 28-29 psi in the front tires and with pure 93 octane to be able to make a 14 sec pass...i wanna see it break in 14s before i put a VI in it...i do have my 95 5spd se that runs 13.9-14.1 N/A with mevi, injen cai, y-pipe, udp, test pipe and a 2.5 inch megan catback and a lightened factory flywheel ....

If you can get better 60's you should be able to get a 14 second pass. 15.3 aint bad though.

Not bad of a run considering you had a really heavy tire combo. Should have thrown those RX7 wheels that you have in your sig

^^^ 17's a nono you could have done way better, like ajcool said you could have done 14's, i had exact same mods with spare in the back and did constant 15.1's and a best 15.0 with 95 GXE

With a 90 mph trap, you really need to add more power to get into the 14s. Improving your 60' will help, but a 90 mph trap would be pretty weak for a 14 second car.

the thing is this car pulls way harder/faster than my 95 5spd(in my sig) which is a late 13sec car with mevi but 90 trap was my issue tooo.... i did have my overdrive off in both passes and ended up with two almost identical times with a difference of .06 mph and .13 Secs...i ll give it another shot cuz my goal is 14.5 or below before this summer with my 96 auto...

same goal with my 2K auto, but O/D means nothing (except for running up top) unless your car goes through all 3 gears in the 1/4 then its pointless

Its the gear ratios in the auto that keep it from running good ETs. To improve your ET you might want to consider running some smaller DRs or slicks, something like a 22-23in slick. Then a higher stall TC would boost off line power even more. These mods can make an auto competitive with a 5spd. Otherwise the ideal setup is to install a 4.0-4.1 final gear into auto which should be good for speeds up to 110-112mph in 3rd gear. Cruise at 60mph would be 2200-2300rpm vs 2000rpm stock.

IIRC, the L31 Altima (QR4AT) has essentially the same tranny as us (5gen), minus the FD.

Here's some info on it.

DAVEB quoted me 94$ for the FD itself.
