First time on the 1/4 mile

So yesterday me, my brother and a friend whet to the track, I finally decided to take my car. Being my first time I decided to let my friend take her down the track as he has done this many many times.

The Car:

V2 Supercharged, Intercooled, 14psi, Meth injected, roughly 10.5 A/F @ WOT, Tires: Falken Azenus 615: 245,55,18

His best was 14.3 @ 102, my brothers best 14.4 @ 102, and my best 14.6 @ 96. Both my brother and friend said the car feels like there is lag like in a turbo charged car, what could that be?.The car pulls really hard in 3rd but 1st and 2nd seems like crap. The car should be mid 13's at least...

Sadly I didn't bring my laptop to hook it up to the EU

I think the car needs a serious tune...

Anyone with a similar setup? 1/4 times? advice?

Damn that sucks have you dyno'ed the car cause damn with that set up you should be in the low 13's if a guy N/A can bust a 13.66 with regular tires and auto!! Maybe dyno tune it costly but F88k It gotta do what you gotta do for the cash spent on a Supercharger and Good Luck!!

it's really hard to say what your car "should" be running but obviously you need more practice, and maybe need to look in to having the car dyno tuned as well. trap speed is not where it should be. with all you listed as being done to it, I'd expect at least 110mph out of such a setup, and more like 115+mph if your setup is tuned well. a 14psi SC VQ30 should be making at least 350whp. 102mph traps are the traps of a 200whp vq30.

trap speed is probably inordinately low because of new drivers behind the wheel not doing what they should, but 10-15mph is a lot of trap speed to be losing, so I think they power is nowhere near where it should be in all honesty.

I didn't mention this earlier, but for the first 3 runs the car was tracked the clutch seemed ok, again my brother and friend said there seemed to be some lag. Later on when my brother took it the clutch was slipping, when I took it out clutch was slipping from 1st all the way to 3rd. It was probably slipping on the first 3 runs but not by much to have them notice it. Also at 6k RPM the car instantly jumps to redline so probably more clutch slipping.

I also have this weird idle. Sometime when you press on the gas just a little it shoots the rpm to 1.5k to 2k and just goes back and forth at this time the Wideband reads 16-18 A/F...sigh

Some updates:

Tuned to 11.5 A/F At WOT
New Clutch/ Pressure plate.

The issue was the pressure plate not putting full power on the clutch. This caused it to slip and cause a tone of burn marks. Didn't help when the car was getting hot as the clutch slipped even more.

I hope to go to the track this Saturday and get in the low 13's...Ok ill take mid 13's..Any 13's, just don't want to see 14's....

so went to the track this weekend. I'll post the time slip soon. Basically my best was 14.302 @ 105.017 MPH. To me that says high 13's...There is issues that need be worked out with my car. For example, the car for a while was getting harder and harder to crank... Today on my way to the track (waiting for the ferry to cross the river) I decided to turn off the car. Well I could not crank it over for the life of me. Got her push started....I had about 12 codes after the night was over...I need to look over everything. I'm stuck with a car that doesn't want to crank

Also when I was at the track (yeah took her to the track), all I got was wheel spin, 1st gear went like it was nothing. Then Shifted into second which spun to redline but I held the car in second until the car got traction. The car picked up and from there she flew...

Many runs I got spark blowout...Guess the gap is to big. A/F was of the charts at 10 A/F

Another issue is I blew the front head gasket, which is why I was maybe reading a bad A/F?

00VI coming off "Maintenance", new head gasket going in, CAM sensor going in (car likes to crank and crank and crank with out wanting to start). Rear valve cover has a small Oil leak. Supercharger belt might get replaced. God knows I need to get ride of the Engine codes....Fun Fun...The weird thig though, she still ran nice. Some parts I noticed where sluggish but overall not bad...Hope when shes running in tip top condition she will hit the mid/high 13's....Until next time...

Many problem to address....

still missing a bunch of trap speed but hopefully that problem will be solved once you get the issues worked out and can put the power down and make a clean pass.

well im glad someone with a s/c is running "decent" times (im talking about myself here lol). whats your location again? how do u fight the wheel spin under full boost? im having an incredibly hard time making it down the track without spinning first, and losing traction when i shift even remotely aggressive.

More like a 13.5-13.4. Just needs a 1.9 60'.

Whats first gear? She spins like there is no tomorrow...

It really doesn't matter how aggressive my launch is...I can hold my rpms at 2k and it still spins if I give it half throttle...I figured the best is to get out of first quickly...So first will redline then shift to second which redline right away but I hold second until the wheels catch then I'm off. IF i had grip that might change my 60 foot time.

I haven't tried but you can try to launch in second gear...Next time I go i'll have some sort of drag radials....and a proper car without a starting issue >_<

they are fine for the street, turning and such.

For straight line traction from a stop, no street tire is worth a damn on a FWD car making as much power as your car does. No street tire can hold a candle to even the least sticky drag radial, let alone slicks. I was over a full second quicker on my nitto DRs than I was on my Hankook RS2s and Kumho MXs - both of which are really good street tires. Nitto DRs are probably the least sticky of all the drag radials available and they still shaved a full second off my time.

Now I'm not saying you'll lose a full second (because my car definitely had more traction problems than yours does back when I was turbocharged) but you'd shave big chunks off that ET with a drag radial and bigger chunks with slicks.

You have more pressing issues to worry about first though, like getting all the problems with your setup sorted out though I'd say. But once you have those problems fixed, get some tires if you enjoy drag racing and want to get the most out of your car.
