Ran a 14.03 in my stock 2011 Max!

Though I'd share being there is not to many 7th gen times on here. It was pretty much the perfect conditions. 55 degrees and car weight with me in it was 3520. Tried like heck to get into the 13's but she would not do it. Another thing is it feels like something kicks in and drops the power down at about 85 mph. I know it supposed to do it but I just want to know how to shut it off!

Thank you for sharing but just as a heads up so you don't get flamed, why don't you post more info like 60' 1/8 mile 1/8 mile trap 1/4 mile trap etc...

get that 60ft down and you'll see 13's. BUT that does seem a bit off for a completely stock car. Nice job none the less.

I guess if you run your car up the track 15 times in a day your bound to get some decent times. All my times were pretty much from 14.0 to 14.2. Only thing I did was leave the spare tire home. Tires were stock pressure with 91 octane. Thats what the dragstrip scale said so who knows. 3520 with driver and 3370 without. Also like I said it was only 50 to 55 degrees out, which I'm sure was the biggest help!

Northern Illinois, checked the DA on 3 tracks (the rest are in central and southern) Byron, Cordova and Joliet and it looks to be in the 800-1100 range @ that temperature.

OP, do you have a date, time and actual track for that run?

Anyone have any clues on how to do this with a CVT? Lower tire pressure, OP, how was the launch, chirp, squeal... these might be irrelevant since i haven't a clue on CVT's.

Copied a couple time slips. The track was Tri State Raceway in Earlville IA on April 22.

The car hooked up pretty good. It made a short squeal but thats it. Not sure if its even another 10th to be had or not. What these cars really need is some cvt programming!

im still a little stunned tho ... my best trap on the old setup all motor was an 81 in the 8th too ... But i walk the new gen maxima's from the roll ...

traps are also around 100-99 ... but from a roll race at the track i put a good beating on the new maxima's

Problem with the new gen Max is the trans. is sluggish in shifting up to high rpms sometimes. If they had some aggressive downshifting they could give you a good run. Heck once mine is tacked out it can give my brothers 2011 Mustang GT a good run from like 40 to 90mph.

I refuse to believe that 7th Gen weigh-in @ 33xx lbs as well.....I know for a fact they're weight without anyone inside is 3540 lbs, 3565 lbs (3.5 S, 3.5 SV)according to a magazine publication I was reading and this:
http://www.nissanusa.com/maxima/specifications.html

My 5.5th Gen is a 3320 lbs beast not that 7th Gen ,....the best thing with the 2009-12 is that freaking 290 hp VQ35 that's it!!! I sure SurraTT's swapped 7th gen motor into a 5.5 th gen Maxima (5.7 th Gen) will put him in the 12's even if he can't really launch in a 1/4 mile drag strip....and that's a legit setup I'm really interested in doing b4 200K miles get here!

Nice stock times.

My best stock time in my 2011 G37S Sedan was:

60' - 2.075
330 - 5.882
1/8 - 8.969
1/4 - 13.81 @ 101.80mph

Stock CVT doing 14 flat. WOW!!! Bro when your car runs these times you gotta get some videos. I have a modded up 6spd 6thgen and I had drag radials and still couldn't get there. But racing is more science than having a fast car.

I learned that from Aaron from NWP engenering. But good run

the car is rated at low 14's, plenty have ran 14.2's n 3's i dont see why his is sooo unrealistic lol... we believe 14.0's stock from the 5.5's and nealoc's unbelievable 14.2 stock 4th gen lol... this is most certainly realistic

seems normal to me... its 300hp and the cvt (**** u cvt's you belong in eco cars n scooters!) keeps revs in the power band so naturally it should be slightly quicker than stock manual 5.5 gen. i know its porkier but the 40 horse advantage and cvt helps

doubt there is 40 extra to the wheels... the 5.5's still somehow has the advantage but its definitely depending on the driver in the 5.5

nah at the crank and rough estimate. 5.5 is lighter but then again i think its the cvt keeping a constant power band

edit, 7th gen is 290hp 5.5 was rated at 255hp but i dunno whether that was under the older sae standards

The 255hp number for the A33b was the old standard, on top of that it was a bogus number. The 5.5 gen max, bone stock would dyno between 200-210whp on a Dynojet 248c (internet dyno) which put it on par with the 240hp (rated) Altima 3.5SE.

I am not familiar with the programming of the A35 CVT but I bet it could be improved with software. I would say a properly setup CVT would run all over a manual trans or conventional auto trans car. Perhaps not as fun to drive on the street but better potential on the track, and more consistent.

Good job on that run, I know a tiny number of A33Bs have claimed stock times that low but I would say that trap speed is very good. Shed some weight next time and see what you can get.

My friend and I also concluded that the CVT and weight are the issues with the 7th gen. If it had a 6speed like the 6th gen it would obliterate.
This is my 4th gen. OBX V2 headers vs a stock 7th gen. It was pretty close. Times weren't in the 14's but we are also at almost 5000ft.

FWIW, those times are totally believable to me. My 07 ran 14.5s stock. My buddy's '10 ran 14.2 @ 99.8 with nothing done. He swears that his '12 Max is quicker.

I posted up a method of shifting that many have gone on to try successfully. I found that mine would lay over around 75 mph, so after trying many methods of shifting, found that at the speed my motor would seem to pull no longer (75 - 80 mph), throw it into manual mode and let the computer shift the car itself. This method worked repeatedly time after time. I don't know how well it would work on the new max but I guess it's worth a try.
