^^ thats funny as hell because there is a nissan development center here in La Jolla by UCSD, maybee ill just stop by there and see wassup LOL!

got google chrome now so the updates should start flowing.

ran out of rivets had to buy more, 50+ rivets in the tunnel now looking awesome, gonna coat the tunnel with one more layer of resin to cover over the rivets, steering is so far being a *****, gonna source a bigger rack possibly from like a q45 or m30 or j30, i need a end to end legnth of 51.5 inches so if anyone knows of any, lemme know.

just gotta do the tank, brake lines, and rear suspension.

any one here got a 240sx that they can measure a few things for me??

or possibly the mitchell wheelbase page with all the datum and measurments.

What things do you need measured? I'll see if I can spare some time to help out a fellow org member.

i need the tower to tower in the rear for the struts (from the center strut shaft) i think its something like 37 inches.

then from the strut mount to the bottom of the trunk.

that seems to be about it

37 inches is what I got from tower to tower. From the strut mount to the bottom of the trunk, it's about 11 inches. It might differ from coupes and hatches though, I've got a hatch.

If the tunnel really is done, then the structural integrity of the car is a fraction of what it's supposed to be. Not to mention, a FR configuration demands a more ridged body than the car had in the first place. You've cut out tubular reinforcements in at least 2 places along with the floor itself and part of the firewall. Looks like you also might have done the same in another spot towards the rear for drive shaft clearance. I don't want to knock too hard on your project, but you've cut away a lot of material and haven't replaced it. Not to say it won't drive, but if you want to drive it hard, get sideways or do some donuts, it's going to put a lot of stress on the body that I don't see it supporting. Or God forbid you get broadsided, the whole car might just fold up like a hot dog.

ah yes, the tunnel is done but the bracing is not, gonna go with 2 of those over tunnel hoop brace, the ones that goes on the floor that attaches the 2 sides of the car together with that hoop in the middle.

and for the front there is gonna be a brace that links across where i cut the main one, n the first pics, its gonna be on the bottom, so no worries, gonna use ne of the cross braces to doubble as a tranny mount, just gotta jack the car up higher (than the 2 feet it already is) and knock it out LOL

I would have welded in the tunnel from a Nissan RWD like a M30, J30, Q45, 200SX, 240SX (but not 300ZX as they are too short) you'd get a structurally stiff tunnel that would probably have braces that could integrate into the Max's braces...

But then again, his setup may be ok for now, until he tries to put a VK56DETT in that...

I thought he should have reinforced the floor brace in which he cut out doing the tunnel as well.....I mentioned that in an earlier post as well..... hopefully it will be strong enough.....!!!!

Thats some nice work. What are you going to do for the trunk area since its missing..lol.You're gonna apply sheet metal or steel. I would say a heavier metal for better reinforcement of the body. Make it stiffer since the dynamics of it has changed tremendously.

But its nice to see people doing these to their cars. It shows how much people can make their dreams come true in spite of what the critics might say. +1 for you man.

I would have used that same size DOT tubing in the engine bay(Motor mount stuff), the cabin floor( Lateral reinforcement), and the trunk(additional bracing).....

well ijust used what i had lying around, kinda make sense the thicker one because its doing a lot of work holding the tranny and bracing the body together, the middle to connect te smaller to the bigger, then the small was just to brace the tunnel mid way.

E_Dog if you weld some 3/8" plating to the top ends of the cross member you can drill some holes in it (same as the engine mounts) and make it removable and add a little clearance at the same time!
