There is a cd option you can buy from nissan but it is like $300. I believe that a 4th gen stock cd will fit, but you will have to convert the wiring harness to make it work. The 4th gen is the cheapest way to go. you can find them on ebay all the time, but they can get up to $150. so there are some choices. i was looking at that option, but ended up going with a 12 disc changer.

My 89' came with a OEM Sony cdplayer where the cuo holder/slid out tray is on other models. I have the cdplayer, but don't know if it works. right now its just filling the space since I don't have an extra tray thing.... I replaced the stock HU with a Blaupunkt that 0wns.

Check eBay. 95+ Nissans use a different wiring harness for the stereo than our 3rd gens. You can buy an adaptor wire (part number 24028-HARNJ) for about $15. Then you can use whatever 95+ Nissan stereo you want. Bose systems might be picky though, no guarantees on what will work with what.

If you're lucky, you can find in-dash CD changers on eBay. I just bought one for $120 (brand new OEM Nissan). When I get it, I just have to figure out the wiring (I was told all I need is the wiring harness adaptor). Should have it within a week, can't wait!

Some 3rd gens came with a big BOSE CD/cassette deck. These are pretty unreliable and will probably have to be reconditioned sooner or later. Some online BOSE repair shops charge $150 or so for this service.

Click on my Homepage to see what the factory CD that goes with the 3rd Gen BOSE looks like. I got a 4th gen BOSE in my new car. I bought it from someone in the for sale forum. . I bought 2 harnesses (one 3rd gen BOSE to universal, and one universal to 4th gen BOSE) from ebay for $15 total. (9.95 + 4.95). It works goods.

I say buy aftermarkrt and skip the Bose ****. I put a Blaupunkt 6.5's, 6x9's and a HU in using factory wiring for about $200. It sounds waaaay better than the Blose and won't break next week.

I had mine for more than a year and I haven't had any problems, plus it matches the interior nicely.

Yeah, but it only came in the SEs not the GXEs. I'm not sure if it was available for the 92 but my 89 SE has it. Still works great. Sony CD player component with standard Bose tape deck/radio.
