"Well you need new tires for one thing. And you have no windshield washer fluid........."Among other things are a couple of years worth of leaves in the engine compartment, the coolant is low, the gas cap is loose, and the 12-year-old air bag is most likely no longer functioning"
any car that someone just puts gas in and drives will wind up like that. I bet the thing was lucky to get an oil change, and screw routine maintenance and washing..
it probably got a monthly drive-through car wash as one of the $3.00 add-ons at the filling station, and that's only if they were feeling lucky.
I bet these same people also had a handfull of Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Infiniti, and any other well-built name that you can think of in the same shape.
that's simply what happens when you NEVER open the hood on your car.
and I'll also bet my lunch money that airbag is still working just fine, assuming some jiffy lube grease monkey didnt' damage the wiring or sensors when it was getting its annual oil change... wanna find out? give me 10 min and my bag of tools.. (or just start the car, sit in the driver's seat and I'll whack the impact sensor with a BFH. )

I am sure they would be giddy to find a car like mine for $2500. Always garaged, always maintained, washed and waxed regularly. It's not the car, it's the owner.
I can't remember our cars being referred to as a "Minima" very often, either. Especially when compared to the fwd sedans of the day, like the Accord, Camry, Taurus (non-SHO), 626, Lumina, etc. From all of the magazines I have read, the Maxima was the cream of the crop.

and I always thought that the minima designation is used for the 4th gen, since they were made when nissan was about to close its doors, hence, lots of stuff went cheap whenever and where-ever.

Basically what I bought when I picked up my 3rd gen for $1k. Paint is shot to hell, engine sounded like a VW bug, and needed $800 in work to pass inspection. 2 years later and $2,500 later in parts, car runs better than my Buick with half the miles.

for such a "minimal" car i get more compliments with my car under construction than some of my friends with WAY more done on their cars and truck. what a idiotic thing for someone to say because someone is TOO STUPID to up keep there ride. is all i have to say to that artical. i don't know about anyone else but i haven't met anyone that don't like the 3rd gen Max
