Mine has 4 wheel disc brakes. But cloth seats, same-car-color-painted mirrors, the vg30E engine, clarion stereo and speakers (not bose)
I really don't know.

WRONG!!!
GXEs with ABS also have 4 wheel disc.

Her's does have SE features though, the wheels and the window trim are both indicative of SE status. But if the mirrors are actually painted body color that could just have been done at some point in its life by someone who didn't like the black mirrors, or maybe argentina spec max's had body colored mirror for all

This are the typical Nissan Maxima of Argentina. See, is a mixture. But most of them have the wing, mine doesn't.

In desperate need of troubleshooting assistance/advice!

Greetings folks,

I'm new to this forum and shouting from Los Angeles, Ca
I have a 3rd gen 93 Max SE (VE30DE eng)

Experiencing extremely rough starts… engine turns over 30 to 50 times, then finally starts (but only with the throttle in the wide-open position)

Once started the engine sounds fine strong and healthy, but when I let off of the throttle it abruptly shuts down.

So far, I've done the troubleshooting and repairs myself and here's what I have replaced as of yesterday:

Fuel filter, spark plugs, thermostat and water pump… I've checked the ECU codes which only repeats 05 05, and also tried adjusting the crank sensor unit accordingly but to no avail. I've also checked the fuel pressure and its good. The starting problem still persists

Please advise as to what-where I should be checking or replacing.

Many-thanks,
Poppz-93Max

Clean your IAC and look at your coolant temperature sensor.

does it still have the problem starting once it gets up to operating temperature?

hey guys, i drive a 2k max se and am thinking about purchasing another car.i fell in love with the 3rd gen,but seeing as how ive never driven one, i thought id ask you guys on your opinions of the car. gas mileage, performance, reliability, all those things. any info would be greatly appreciated. 92 - 94 would be your best choice.
mileage, VARIES widely, expect a minimum of 17 city when the car is in proper tune.
Performance, 190hp with a 6700 factory redline pulls way better than a VQ30DE
Reliability, it's a 12-14 year old car. things fail, just plan for it

aside from the normal things (tires, brakes, engine fluids, etc.) what should I be looking/asking about when I'm checking one out? I've heard alot of transmission problems.. is this true?

Mostly in Automatic T. And the one that goes with the VG30 engine. If you can go with the manual!

just added. New to this site, I own a 1989 se 5 spd, 1992 gxe auto, both black and stock. I'm swapping motors from the 92 to the 89. they both have the VE30E but when i bought the 89 it had jumped time and the guy that had it before me tried to fix it but did it all wrong and bent the valves and done something to the bottom end. I only bought it for $300 and the body is in great shape,it has the bose, sunroof, 5 speed trany, so i am taking the motor outta my 92 which is a salvage car, hit a dog so they totaled it the only thing wrong with it was the hood, radiator, and driver fender.

Both your cars did NOT Come with the DOHC VE30DE engine. The VE30DE engine was only put in the 92-94 SE models...

This is the VG30E SOHC engine..

This is the VE30DE DOHC engine...The valve cover and intake are custom in this pic..

Oh yeah,

I'm in Portland, Maine. I'm a 26 year old chick that doesn't trust domestic cars as far as she can throw them, or at least drive them...! Last weekend, I rebuilt the regulator in my driver's side window, total cost = $4.50 with some 1/16th cable and ferrels from Home Depot. This weekend I intend to fix the 'shift bushing' as Max is giving me attitude right now. I hope you guys will give me more advice as the years go on with Max.

This is the car I got my license in way back in 1996... After I lost control on a icy road, my mother sold me Max, as she had a new beau Lex. We also had a Isuzu Rodeo named Tex. Theme? Maybe...

Mine has chrome trimmed grill and center trim is chrome on the rear lights as well. VG30E engine with auto. Full options.

Want to know becasue I am parting out due to crankshaft sheared outside of block.
