is the legend a stick or auto?
if it's an auto, leave it alone the trans is crap.
otherwise it'd probably be a better investment in the long run

To me it's a wash. The 95 Legend has more power (230 vs. 190), but it's also heavier by close to 400 lbs, and I doubt it's as nimble. Repair cost differences are basically non-existent.

Other than a slight feature uptick on your part, I don't see a need to make the switch. If the Legend is in really good shape, $4000 is a smokin price. Consumer Guide says they should still be worth $6-7000 in good shape.

As stated before, if the Legend is a stick coupe, and in good condition, Id prolly go for it. They are hard to find in good condition. But beware, repair costs will be much more expensive. Parts are sometimes hard to find, and there arent common in most junkyards..(like our maximas)

Before I bought my Max the Legend, and ( I'm going to hear it for this) but a Mitsu Diamonte were the 3 I was looking at. After exploring Mitsu's build quality, it was down to the Acura and the Max. I just found a better, cleaner, lower miliage Max first.

I think that the legend is a better car then a 3rd gen. I don't know which one is faster(don't care) but it seems to me that the quality is better. My only problem with the legend is that the wheel base seems disproportional(too long) to the body which iritates me a little. I'd go with the legend though any day of the week.

you know the Max , what its capable of, and what condition its in. You don't know what happened to the Legend.

Yes , in good condition, a Legend is a good car, but otherwise , with those part costs,

in this situation, sticking with the Max is a safe, and in the long run, a fun bet..

my friend just sold his legend. repairs were pretty expensive and good luck trying to get in there and work on anything in the engine bay. Plus legends are kown to be prone to burning oil with faulty gaskets

I like the Legend they seem to still be popular cas I see them a lot and resale is still reasonable, but jus look at it. it is long, low and fat. not agile. i'm sure that extra hp doesnt make it to the wheels. if so only a little bit. legend is a in a completely diferent class than the maxima. but make your pick. but for me if i couldnt have both I wouldnt hafta think twice 4DSC my friend.

It just sounds like a good offer and i felt i could keep the max in the family. I might just buy a 4th or 5th gen. Like the legend It is auto and the car is in mint. Max has a few mods so ill guess ill keep it. But More expensive work doesnt sound good.

the legend has 230HP? hmm.. i can't believe i beat one in my VG auto with bolt ons...

Back on topic... I think the Legend being an Acura prolly has nicer interior, the extra power is good. but besides that, i think everything else is in favor of the max.

the max has independant suspension, i would imagine the max to be more fun to drive and toss better around turns.
most legends i see around here look like they're from 1986, the paint looks dull, the body style looks bulky. so far i haven't seen a legend as well kept as most 3rd gen max are. so legends didn't give me a very good impression. If it were up to me, I'd stay with the max. and screw honda...

I drove a 1993 (if I remember correctly) Acura Legend 5-speed sedan a while back. The thing practically drove itself, and it is by far the softest manual transmission I've ever rowed. It wasn't too bad, but it did feel buikly. I think in general they're decent-looking rides, and coupes are even better. The interiors are good, but I wouldn't say leaps better than a 3G Max.

The Max is so much easier to mod. I've never heard of an aftermarket for the Legend. Unless you want to roll a car with a slight "street cred" advantage over a Max, it's not worth it.
