I got into my car and turned on the lights but the instrument panel wasn't lit. But when I pressed on the brake pedal they turned on. So every time I press the brake pedal they turn on along with the brake lights (front lights work fine). I changed the fuse but it blows it out.
Is it a short or what? Nissan will charge me $70 to check it! What to do?????? Thanks for the help!

Check the connectors inside your taillights. sounds like one of the sockets has melted and shorted some wires together.

Thanks Matt93GXE I'll do that. Do you know if the relay has anything to do with it?

there shouldn't be a relay on the brake lights- just a direct switch on/off. the only relays involved are the solenoid that releases the shifter when you press the brake on automatics... and even then, that's not REALLY a relay, but similar stuff.

Thanks Matt93GXE you were right on the ball. I checked the taillight wires and it turned out to be that one light bulb had its connectors melted together. Thanks again for the help!

This is probably the easiest and cheapest way to do it. Take out the corner lights and check the bulbs to make sure they are not making contact due to melting. Do the same for the rear taillights. Pull every bulb out! If one or more bulbs are stuck or hard to come out that means you have a short. Check the base of the bulb to see if the connectors are making contact due to melting. I would start with the taillights because it is most common to happen with the braking lights. Good Luck!!!! Let me know!!
