fuel issue on Maxima I might purchase

I have chance to get a hell of a deal on a 94 SE. Here is what The owner claims is wrong and what he has checked....

"here is what happened:

the car started misfiring.i checked the fuel pressure and replaced regulator.

replaced fuel injectors(used from junk yard, tested with meter to ohms rating in manual)

tested coil packs. all work good.replaced spark plugs.

tested injector harness with noid lights tested ok.

the car is flooding with gas still.

i tested the compression on all 6 cylinders all within range of factory specs.

i do not have the time to go further."

Any ideas? anyone have a similar thing happen? I might go look at it tomarrow, but I don't want to get it unless it's something I can fix myself.

THanks

Doug

I had a problem starting the car after changing the fuel injectors. I turned out that it's VERY difficult on these cars to get the injector into the rail without damaging the "O" rings so it leaks into the intake. The injector body and the fuel rail must be smooth where the "O" rings go and everything must be slicked up with petroleum jelly to slip it together without damage or misalignment. Also, use new "O" rings and injector to manifold cushions or you'll get a vacuum leak.
THere are also many other things that can cause this including: , coils or old injectors can check out good per FSM and not be good, Vacuum hose leaks, MAF, etc. However if you know the engine is flooding with gas (pull plugs, wet with gas) then I would suspect injectors or more likely the seals.

If hes not asking that much i would go ahead and get it, but even buying new injectors offline is expensive for our cars. take into consideration that you will have to spend money on it to get it running well. make sure that he did not use gasket maker on the intake plenum, it causes a huge vacuum leak.
